I honestly didn't know I needed this combination until I saw it, but now I can't imagine my nightstand without it. The FTOP safe is brilliant because it hides in plain sight. To anyone walking into the room, it just looks like a high-tech alarm clock and charging station, not a gun safe. Pros: Fast Access: The biometric fingerprint scanner is incredibly responsive. I programmed my print easily, and the drawer pops open instantly every time—no fumbling with keys or codes in the dark. Declutters the Nightstand: The 3-in-1 wireless charging is a game changer. It charges my phone and watch overnight, which allowed me to get rid of all the messy cables I used to have next to my bed. Smart Features: The built-in screen is sharp, and having the temperature and humidity reader is actually a huge plus for firearm owners to ensure moisture isn't building up inside. Discrete Security: The drawer lock mechanism feels sturdy and smooth. It fits my subcompact perfectly with extra room for a spare mag and some cash. Overall I am very Impressed with this safe. Let me try to touch on each feature it provides: Gun Safe (Likely the reason you bought it): Build quality feels solid and is on par with any other safe of this size/form factor. Interface (Biometric, number pad, key) are easy to use and reliable. Definitely be sure to input your finger print multiple times and I found it helpful to end on a position where your finger covers the whole scanner. Access - When level, you would have to manually pull the drawer out if needing to access quickly (a bit of a bummer but not a deal breaker). Training is your best friend here, but I think I will just slightly lift the beck end to give it an assist as this makes the drawer open much better. Noise - Hold the 1 button to disable the loud beeps. Otherwise the motor does make a noise, but nothing too obvious or loud Clock Interface: The clock interface is not bad to set up once you understand how and the manual explains it well. Display is bright and easy to read. Wireless Charger: It is awesome that they added 3 access ports here. Personally, I think the watch one might be a bit gimmicky, but definitely nice to have the option. I did try all three of them (latest iPhone, latest Apple Watch, AirPods Pro) and all worked with ease and not much finicking around. Power: The unit allows for battery or wall plug for power. I am opting for the wall plug option, as I feel like all the bells and whistles on this safe would drain batteries quickly (though I did not test that). Definitely nice that the option exists though!

The CTC01 makes a strong first impression. The body is well-constructed, with a front panel design reminiscent of old digital alarm clocks—at night it could easily pass for a vintage VCR sitting on the desk. The included security cable is substantial, and notably, it can only be installed or removed when the drawer is open, adding an extra layer of security. Environmental Sensors The built-in temperature and humidity display feels like more of an afterthought. It takes over an hour for the readings to normalize after a change in environment, so it’s not well-suited for quick spot-checks… especially if you intended to use this as a travel safe in a hotel. Interior Quality Instead of cheap “egg crate” foam, the interior uses a thinner, dense rubber foam lining. This should protect your firearm’s finish without scratching, while also keeping the interior sleek and low-profile. Wireless Charging Performance The integrated wireless charger is functional but awkwardly laid out. Charging an iPhone 16 Pro Max alongside an Apple Watch is a challenge, as the watch competes for space at the bottom of the triangular charging pad. However, charging the iPhone with AirPods works fine. It’s not unusable—it just doesn’t seem optimized for charging all three devices at once. The manual claims there is a USB-C port on the back of the charger, but if it exists, it’s not easily accessible. I looked for the panel to remove to see if it’s hiding but either it’s tighter than I can get a grip on or it is missing… so this may be a feature of a different revision. Mounting Considerations The safe includes hardware for mounting, but only two screw holes are positioned near the front corners. You can remove the drawer to access them, but it’s awkward without an angled screwdriver, and you must be careful not to damage the ribbon cable that connects the drawer’s display, keypad, and fingerprint sensor. It’s understandable that there are no rear mounting holes—the design makes them virtually impossible to reach. However, this means the mounting setup is more of a deterrent than a true theft-proof system. If someone could get leverage on the unsecured back end, the front two screws could be defeated with rotational force. In practice, the security cable is a far more reliable way to tether the safe in place. Final Verdict The FTOP CTC01 is a solidly built and visually discreet safe with a good security cable system and a premium-feeling interior. Its weaknesses lie in slow environmental sensors, awkward wireless charging layout, and a mounting system that’s better suited to deterrence than total immobilization. For stationary home use with the security cable, it’s a strong pick. For frequent travel or rapid environmental checks, it’s less ideal.

This is a solid, heavy-duty gun safe and feels much sturdier than I expected for the price. Setup was straightforward, and it provides quick access while keeping everything secure. The build quality is excellent, and it fits my handgun and other essentials without any issues. My only complaint is that the fingerprint reader can be a little hit or miss at times. Most of the time it works well, but occasionally it takes an extra try to recognize my fingerprint. Because of that, I recommend setting up multiple fingerprints as backups. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a sturdy, well-built biometric gun safe.

Really impressed with the quality and value of this safe. There are many options out there for gun safes but this checks all the boxes for me. 1) you want a bedside safe to be discrete or hidden, this does both perfectly because it really looks like an alarm clock with charger, and looks very sleek. 2) for a bedside gun safe to be effective, you don’t want to have to open a drawer in your nightstand, than unlock it etc, this solves any accessibility issues because it’s always just right there. 3) the storage capacity is excellent, and you can see can easily fit a full size pistol and spare mag with room to spare 4) while it plugs in, it does come with a battery backup, redundancy is important. Overall very happy with this purchase, looks great, functions even better, fingerprint and code both work flawlessly, would buy again. For the price it really is a tremendous value.

Edit. Lowered from 4 stars to 1 because the time is off. After a couple days time winds faster on the clock. The temperature gauge & the humidity meter are also way off. Not happy. Original review: OK Product but could be better. The only reason why I am giving it a 4 stars (actually deserves 3.5) is because the clock, sound (beeping when you press a button) and the overall fingerprint setting process, as well as setting the time and alarm is a big pain in the rear. For the fingerprint, even when I have registered 10 different scans for the same finger, it hesitates to open the safe drawer. The humidity sensor and the thermostat are also way off. The thermostat is off by 2-3 degrees and the humidity sensor is off by 5%. Current room temperature at 70 degrees with 35% RH and the safe (with drawer open) is showing 72 F with 40% RH. I emailed the manufacturer and "Ariel" from customer service wrote a one line email saying "Sorry, there may be a slight error in the display of the temperature and humidity sensor." . Please be aware that the temp gauge is off and its hard to initially set it up.

The fingerprint reader is fast and reliable, opening instantly without the lag or misreads I’ve experienced with other safes—even ones that cost twice as much. The build quality feels solid, the design is sleek, and setup was straightforward. In 2026, there’s no reason to settle for outdated lock technology when biometric security has come this far.
