I received no incentives for this review. It was ordered and received within one day. This was for a Stihl FS 55, and I made sure I got the correct carb, something I encourage you to also do since the linkage fitment can be different. The machine would only run in the choke mode, and would stop working in the normal running mode. I have not done a carburetor replacement on this before, but, it was easily done, and afterwards the machine started and ran properly. The new parts fit perfectly, and even had extras. For now, anyway, I can recommend this as excellent value for money. Note: it will take a few pulls to get fuel back into the system when done, be patient. The tips below sound more complicated, but it's really pretty straight forward unbolting, and re-bolting. You can do this. Unsnap the plastic flap that pulls open to reveal the filter and put it aside. Remove the air filter. There are two nuts that can be removed with a socket driver, or set. Remove the fuel hoses from the carb. Slide the carb off, and remove the linkage wire from the retainer (see below). If you're not replacing the fuel lines and filter, then simply replace the linkage wire, add new gaskets if necessary on the front and back of the carb, and slide the new carb back on the bolts and tighten, then replace the two fuel hoses. Replace the air filter, and snap on the plastic flap. If you're replacing the fuel filter and lines, which is a good idea, remove the lines from the carb, and can gently use a flat head screwdriver to loosen the plastic seal over the tank that the hoses are attached to, and lift out the filter. When you reattach it to the carb, make sure that you attach the shorter tube to the closest fitting, and the longer one to the fitting above that. Also make sure that the seal covering the tank fits flat and tight without folds so there are no leaks, you can lift out folds it by carefully using the screwdriver. Putting the linkage back is easier with needle nose pliers, but be aware that there's a larger opening in one side of the slotted linkage pin that the small retainer on the end that the cable fits into. Lay the cable across the slotted pin with the larger opening away from the retainer, and it will slide into the end of the pin. Slide on the new carb, making sure to have a gasket front and back, and replace the fastening nuts and tighten. Add a new air filter, and snap on the plastic swinging cover and you're done. Since the kit contains a spark plug, it makes sense to go ahead and replace that too. One last thing, there's a wire mesh spark arrester that can get clogged and prevent the machine from operating well, or maybe not at all. It's cone shaped, and in the exhaust port and can be easily unbolted and cleaned if necessary. As it helps prevent sparks that might cause fires, do not leave it out, be sure to replace it.

This carburetor was an exact replacement for a Stihl FS 45. I replaced it, the fuel line, fuel filter, air filter, and spark plug very inexpensively - all included in this kit. Once I did, the weed eater started up and ran great. No adjustments needed. I would buy again

This carb is cheaper than a Stihl OE carb rebuild kit. It went right on my Stihl FS 55 with no problems. It ran immediately with no issues in starting. I did some minor low and high speed adjustments to fine tune it but that was easily accomplished. Unbelievable with all the extras it comes with.... Extra air filters, fuel line & filter, primer bulbs, and a spark plug?! Although it's only been on a short time, so far so good!

Worked perfectly on my FS45. Came with the carb, gaskets, fuel lines, fuel filter x2, replacement bulbs x2,air filter X2, new spark plug....wow! I replaced it in literally 15mins pumped it like 5 times, pulled on it 8 times full choke and she fired! No choke one more pull and she ran perfectly! Would recommend!

Fantastic, you get 4 gaskets , 2 fuel filters, the 3 in 1 fuel line and 1 spark plug. Runs great out of the box, no adjusting of needle valves. This is the only carb that I will use from now on for all my small engine needs.
