I ordered this when the green one I ordered from China was taking too long to show up. I ended up getting them the same day. This cute white egg is much heavier than the green one, also sold on Amazon now, and it doesn't let any light in. It is smaller but still is a lot of bean sprouts and is perfect for a family of 4 if making a stir fry or as I use my sprouts in fried rice. This will not work with small seeds. It is for mung beans or larger. It also has a weighted basket that you put on top of the growing beans to make them thicker and more like chemically treated store bought sprouts. This is fill with stones that hold in the moisture keeping your sprouts healthy between rinsing. The green one has a basket that you could add some weight too. I gave that one which is larger to my friend and she used a glass in the basket for weight. She seems to have no problems with the fact that it also lets in some light. Over all this one is much easier on the eyes and nicer on the counter for the 4 days it takes to grow your own mung bean sprouts. Once they are grown, put them in a thin plastic bag and squeeze all the air you can out and they will keep in the fridge for 3 or 4 more days.

Received today and noticed the box looked dirty and had been taped closed. When I removed the sprouter pot, it was obvious, this was “pre-owned” and “pre-used”. It was dirty, had scuff marks and scratches on each piece of the unit. Instruction booklet all in Chinese. No English at all. Returning for a full refund.

This actually works well for both mung bean sprouts and soybean sprouts, both of which need to be grown in the dark. The weight helps the sprouts grow straight and is so handy in comparison with the makeshift system that I was using before. The unit also drains well, so I haven't had any issues with rotting while growing my sprouts. If you're looking for something that will grow enough sprouts for a couple of meals for 1-2 people, I would definitely recommend this unit!

It's interesting and nice item. I enjoyed planting and eating. There is not English manual, and I had to use google transfer. So, it has 4 stars.

This is a perfect sprouter for bean sprouts. I use this sprouter for sprouting mung beans as shown in the photos. You can harvest in one week and get strong and straight sprouts. The cap created a resistance on the sprouts to make them straight. The regular jar or container sprouters will not achieve the same result. Highly recommended.

Packaging was terrible...it was in the box without any support. The material of it seems very weak. It seems to be a returned product sold without being cleaned off...it was dirty...bottom area had some build up that rubbed off. Not worth the price...made in China.
