We have a large old house with an open downstairs layout. For years, we have had one large room air conditioner and then used large fans to pull the air to other parts of the downstairs, but this never cooled off the kitchen which is 2 large rooms away. So when Prime Days came around, we took advantage of a great deal to purchase this quality product and put it in the window nearest to the other parts of the downstairs. This was a particularly scorching summer at times and our old methods weren't cooling off the downstairs well enough during those extreme heat warning stints. This air conditioner is ridiculously easy to set up (actually made me realize how I put the one in my bedroom together incorrectly, without looking at the directions) and wasn't too heavy to lift up to put into a 6-foot high kitchen window--even for this person with a bad back. The unit fits 95% perfectly into the window and the old, uneven windows of our 140-year-old home likely are to blame for that. The noise is truly minimal for what it does. And the remote control is very simple and easy for my senior mother to use, instead of having to use the buttons on the unit. I love that it is eco friendly and that it won't use expensive energy when we don't need it. Lastly, I will say that I am sure it will work beyond great if you use it for just one closed-off room. However, people like us who need to cool off more than that area, I can say that it does cool strong enough that you can use a fan to pull the air to another room. Since adding this conditioner to the kitchen, the downstairs has been overall very pleasant despite the latest extreme heat stint. And I'm not overly concerned about the next electric bill as I know it helped use other forms of cooling less overall. We purchased this under a great deal but I would say it is well worth the expense and future savings for you to buy it at full price!

First off the positive as it far outweighs anything negative. I just got this today and it was super easy to install. I was able to manage getting it my window by myself, but I live in a single story home so if you aren't, it definitely wouldn't hurt getting someone to help. I play video games in my bedroom that is roughly 13x11, and the problem is that my computer is like a furnace for my room. The rest of the house is fine, but needed something to help keep my bedroom cool while playing games. This cooler is very fast and doesn't have any issues cooling down my room. For noise, it honestly isn't that bad. I wish it was a little bit quieter, but I don't have many issues with noise when going to sleep as it sounds like white noise. I would say it sounds like two tower fans blowing on high. The only thing I didn't care for was the weather proofing. I wish I had a picture when it was sunny before I did my weatherproofing. The accordion style gap fillers that come with the unit don't go completely to the top or bottom and I was worried bugs would crawl right into the room. I was able to use some rope caulk which worked wonder in getting into the small gaps along with weatherseal tape to ensure cold air stayed in and the hot air/bugs stayed out. Overall, with the price, you can't beat this air conditioner.

I have some mixed feelings about this air conditioner. One of the things was that I was encouraged to purchase side curtains for the unit when I was ordering the unit. To my surprise when I opened the box that the air conditioner came in there were side curtains in it. I had not ordered any. So you might want to see what you get before you order additional stuff. Installation was pretty straightforward though the booklet leaves out a lot. Just use your common sense and you'll generally be fine. It never does mention the attachment of the top rail to the air conditioner but it shows a picture of it already having been done. For those of you concerned about window width it does take 23 in as a minimum to use both side curtains. If you're handy with a hacksaw you can alter that a little bit and make that a little narrower. Or you can remove one of the side curtains entirely to squeeze into a narrow window. As far as some of the other comments I have read I think noise is the most important. The compressor is very quiet. The fan is not. Even on the low setting it is as loud as my old air conditioner fan was on high. I'm guessing it does not have a squirrel cage fan which is usually quieter. I don't know that as a fact, but the fan noise is quite noticeable. I do like the efficiency of the air conditioner. There are some nice features built in. There is a remote control which can also function as a thermostat. It was an excellent value for the price but I do wish it were quieter on low.

I live in a block house with no AC and we just entered a two week heatwave with temps in triple digits with expected highs approaching 110 so I ordered this little guy to help keep inside cooler and help me sleep. The unit is not big. It is too heavy, but not lite. Was pretty easy to install, and has definitely helped keep the house a little cooler, and the bedroom where it is installed cold. I am still figuring out what to set it on during the day vs night, but will easy to use controls on the unit itself, and a simple to use remote as well, it's been extremely easy to play around with and adjust. Only downside is it's not exactly quiet, but I can put up with a little noise in order to not melt.
