  • Quietest AC I've ever used
My situation: a large 1-bedroom apartment in southern Massachusetts, on the north side of a 100-plus-year-old frame house converted into 8 apartments. It's not the sun belt, but we get low 90s through July and August, and the humidity is high. I've got a roughly 300 sq. ft. bedroom and a 280 sq. ft. living room, with a 200 sq. ft. kitchen plus bathroom in between. The wiring is wicked old (fuses, not circuit breakers) so I have to pay close attention to current draw or I'll blow fuses in a heartbeat. I had to run some 10-gauge ground wire from the outlets to a grounding strap on the nearest radiator. I bought a 5000 btu Frigidaire last year (Model FFRA0511R1E) for the bedroom. It did an acceptable job of cooling an area larger than its rating (with the help of a tiny circulating fan), is not too loud, and draws only 3.5 amps, which is just amazing. My electric bills are tiny. This year I added this model, a Frigidaire FFRE063ZA1 6000 btu, for the living room. It arrived with a small defect; the rail on the bottom to hold the left-side accordion wing was crushed at the end, and I had to bend the metal and shave the plastic frame of the wing in order to install the wing. Minor issue, not a difficult problem, but if I hadn't been handy I would have had to send it back. The 6000 btu AC unit is completely sufficient for the front room and then some. It appears to do it while drawing only about 4.5 amps, which, again, is amazing. The efficiency of these little units is a wonder of technology. But the thing that struck me is how quiet it is. This is absolutely the quietest air conditioner I've ever run. No rattles, no loud electrical hums, just a modest air rushing sound that gets swallowed by the room. The rating said 47 dB and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it was actually less than that. The two air conditioners are completely cooling my entire apartment on the hottest day of the year. It's not freezer-cold; it's comfortable, around 72 degrees indoors, and that's just fine. I don't even run the 6000 btu at night. I don't need a unit for the kitchen. These small Frigidaire AC units are outstanding. ... show more

  • Works great! Super quiet 🤫 Really Cold 🥶
Installed through the wall on a 120 sq ft. Room. Immediately cooled the entire room. The remote is super useful and has its own temp sensor so you can set it on the other side of the room to make sure the entire area gets to the right temp. Came with everything! and the insulation prices came in super handy. Really excited to see how it works out in the heat wave days... ... show more

  • Very efficient and quiet
I love this air conditioner! My apartment is just over 350 sq ft and this unit cools my apartment sufficiently. It doesn’t get ice cold in there, but it’s comfortable. The remote is really nice and I like that it senses the temperature of the remote, not just the unit. The air filter light is also a nice feature, and the filter is super easy to clean. You can’t control the direction of the air very well, but that’s really the only complaint I have. The noise level is also really low, just a nice low hum. ... show more

  • great lil unit
It’s nice, works great, and came with everything so it was very easy to install. I took down a star because the medium and high fan setting are quite loud (i’d say the equivalent of a washing machine but constant). Also not sure if my remote is defective because it does not sync with the unit.

  • The weight of the cooler isn't too bad.
I ordered this cooler because it has a sleep mode. We haven't used it much but, I think it will work just fine for our room size. And the noise really isn't bad. I would buy it again.

  • Lasted ONE WEEK
Unbelievably disappointed. Not only is it LOUD (and I like a good amount of white noise to sleep, but this was far too annoying for a bedroom), but it lasted a grand total of ONE WEEK before the compressor failed and I had to return it. It ran fine for that week, blew nice and cold, then I turned it on one afternoon and after 30 minutes noticed that not only was the room still warm, but there was an odd rattling from the compressor. Shut it down and let it sit, did some googling, tried a couple more times, but same problem; odd noises, and just warm air. Don't waste our time. I replaced it with the Midea U-shaped model, which is insanely quiet by comparison and has worked great so far. ... show more

  • It cools well.
This unit cools pretty good, this is my first AC so I can't compare on loudness, but I can say don't put it in your living room if you plan on watching tv I even went the extra mile and padded the entire window sill before installation, but it's not vibration noise it's the functional noise, remote sensing doesn't work well though the remote is well made, and cannot switch into fan only mode via remote or on the unit itself. All that being said I live in Maine where it has been 80-90 with 50%-90% humidity since I got the unit for the most part during the day. The unit has kept my one bedroom apartment nice and cool with low humidity. One thing that annoys me though and it may not necessarily be the unit itself, but rather just a very basic function, when you set it to say 69 it will shut off when it hits 69 in the room, however it seems like the instant it senses 69.1 it turns right back on. This makes sleeping difficult with the unit turning on and off every few minutes. It has sleep mode but it seems random to me, the temp goes up by 2 degrees after 30 mins and then 2 more for 30 mins it holds that temp for 7 hours then returns to normal temp.......what? Energy efficiency I'm not sure have not gotten the bill yet. The unit is well made and as far as being an air conditioner it does it's job, but I think the cheaper units even from the same company are just about equal whats the point of paying for frills if the frills are not all that great. I admit I bought it because it looked nice and fancy, but the regular bland AC with the twist nobs would have worked equally as well and saved me money.\ -UPDATE- Buy a different unit. This thing is aggravating. Very poorly programmed, internet thermostat is poo can't tell the difference between 66 degrees and 78, but can tell the difference between 66 and 66.1, shuts off when you don't want it to, and turns on when it doesn't need to. ... show more
