  • SIZE IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME
Got it end of season on sale and didn't take it out of the box and plug it in until end of February . We get a lot of crazy weather down here in the deep South so the handyman put it in for me where I had the 12,000 btu that was so strong I put it into the main house as a backup for the HVAC on an addition side that has a hot spot in full sun all day. The 8000 is perfect for this size cottage im in a 22x14. (I was still oversized for the cottage at 12) . I put a 5,000 in the tiny bedroom window that blows down the length of the cottage and that's what I use most of the BEGINNING of spring season. I just set it at 62 and let them run that's all you can do down here anymore . We hit I believe 89° yesterday very low hummidity this month. I have open cell insulation and I'm in full sun all day so this new 8,000btu is in the kitchen window now and it's perfect it gets the humidity first and the temperature lowers second which is what I need so it can take it from like 80° F and 80% humidity down to 72° /50% less than 30 minutes . I'll use the 8,000 when it's higher humidity / Temps, We've been having very dry air and cool nights for right now so it's not going to strain the 5000btu. EARLY SEASON I run THE 5000 BTU all day and it does great. About 10 ft in front of it I put a vortex fan and let it blow forward. Now because of how window air conditioners have to be made now what I have to do for down here in this VERY HUMID region is just simply put it to the lowest possible setting and let it run so the 5,000 btu is set at 62° and I just let it run all day or if it hits the desired temperature I turn it off if I'm home . It's about 450 watts I believe. Do not let it run in eco mode if you're there and you live in a VERY HUMID SUBTROPICAL area because it will just blow humidity right back into the house. Slinger rings plus no compressor runing when it reaches out to see if it needs to be on in eco mode equals rehumidification. Every single window unit on the planet does that now. I won't go over why but it had nothing to do with the air conditioning companies and everything to do with a mandate for seer rating. Do not expect a tiny 5,000 BTU approved for about 100 sqft to cool a whole house or even 200 square foot room in full sun if you don't have some serious insulation in it. I used to have fiberglass insulation out here and it was a joke so I went serious insulation after getting enormous power bills for trying to cool out here with a 15,000 BTU... The 5000 btu is being shaded by the next door neighbors crape myrtle that grew tall enough and big enough to hang over the fence grateful for the shade it always helps a unit perform better. SO RECAPPING 8,000 BTU PERFECT SIZE PLUS PERFECT INSULATION EQUALS GREAT OUTCOME. I HAVE HAD EXCELLENT OUTCOMES WITH EVERY SINGLE FRIGIDAIRE AND AMAZON BASIC I HAVE PURCHASED SO FAR. ... show more

DO NOT BUY!!! Less than 6 months old and the compressor stopped working fully and just constantly freezes. The coils do not get cold. The compressor immediately starts freezing.

  • Cools off quickly, Runs Quiet , and Great Value
Product Overview This Frigidaire unit is an 8,000 BTU window air conditioner engineered to cool spaces up to 350 square feet—making it a sweet-spot size for large bedrooms, home offices, or small living rooms. Finished in clean white, it packs essential modern convenience features like a full-function remote, automated modes, and variable fan speeds. Key Performance Areas Cooling Efficiency & Airflow: With 8,000 BTUs of power, the unit drops the temperature in a 350-square-foot room quickly and maintains it effortlessly. The three fan speeds offer good flexibility, allowing you to choose between maximum air circulation and a gentler, more targeted breeze. Noise Levels (Quiet Operation): While window units are inherently louder than central air or mini-splits, this model is designed with quiet operation in mind. On low speed, the compressor and fan emit a predictable, steady hum that functions well as white noise, making it perfectly suitable for bedrooms or workspaces where loud distractions are a dealbreaker. Eco Mode & Efficiency: The inclusion of an Eco Mode is a major benefit for your utility bill. In this setting, the unit doesn't just run the fan constantly; instead, the entire system (including the fan) turns off once the room hits the target temperature, cycling back on periodically to sample the air. It cuts down on unnecessary energy drain significantly. Convenience Features & Automation: The Auto Restart feature is an unsung hero. If your home experiences a quick power flicker or outage, the unit automatically boots back up to your last used settings as soon as power returns. The included remote control handles everything from temperature adjustments to mode switches from across the room, which is incredibly convenient. Pros & Cons Pros: Fast, effective cooling that comfortably handles rooms up to 350 square feet. Eco Mode helps keep electricity consumption in check. Auto Restart protects your settings during unexpected power drops. Quiet low-fan setting is excellent for undisturbed sleep. Clean, unobtrusive aesthetic blends easily with standard window frames. Cons: Like most window units in this weight class, installation can be a bit heavy for a single person and requires secure bracing. The high fan setting, while great for quick cooling, is noticeably loud if you are trying to watch TV or hold a conversation right next to it. Final Verdict The Frigidaire 8,000 BTU unit is a highly dependable workhorse for medium-to-large single rooms. It strikes a great balance between raw cooling performance, smart energy-saving features, and user-friendly automation. For anyone looking to survive hot summer months without spiking their power bill or sacrificing sleep quality, it is a rock-solid investment. ... show more

  • I do not recommend
Disappointed in the quality of the machine and was absolutely TERRIFIED by the sound that came out of it when we turned it on. It was on high speed and sounded like a jet engine about to take flight in our living room. I advise anyone to skip this one
