I took a chance buying this FREE SOLDIER Women's Waterproof Ski Snow Jacket right before a ski trip. The first time I ordered I had ordered a Large that should've given me ample space according to the sizing chart but it was too small at the bottom of the zipper and I found it just a tad tight and did not allow for easy, comfortable bending which I do a lot while snowboarding. With that being said I LOVED this jacket so much I reordered right away in the next size up. The jacket coloring is so retro and fun I couldn't resist and really matched great with my purple ski pants. I love the spandex sleeve extension with the thumb hole, I found it really comfortable and the wrist band velcros nice and tight. This jacket has a button waist band, removable/adjustable hood, mesh pocket on the inside right, zipper pocket with headphone opening on the inner left, zipper pocket on the outside left chest, a small zipper pocket on the lower left sleeve and lower outside zipper pockets on both sides with ample space. The jacket zips, velcros and snaps at the bottom and top so it stays very secured. While skiing or snowboarding. I stayed really warm and loved the soft inside and that the outer shell is waterproof. I typically buy Columbia brand but honestly this coat rivaled those and I found this one more comfortable and warmer without even needing an additional shell jacket inside. Great deal on this quality but maybe size up for comfort. I have and would buy again.

We did end up buying a size larger, because the jacket's arms were a little short. The colors are terrific and it is excellent for skiing. It keeps her warm.

Wore for my first time on the slopes. Pros include the warmth, price, quality and pockets/storage. Cons include the hood being too small to fit over a helmet, not accommodating for wider hips/larger bums, tightness/restriction in arms/shoulders. Wore over a gymshark hoodie and very thin base layer. I say get it and size up by 2 sizes. Great purchase for first-timers that don’t want to invest too much upfront.

I wore this jacket skiing in 25 mile an hour winds and teen temperatures. I did not get cold. I ordered a large to have room for layering. I’m 5’4” and 150 pounds. The fit was perfect with no binding with 2 layers underneath. I love the pocket on the sleeve and the thumbholes are comfortable and keep your wrists warm. The hood is fleece-lined which keeps your head warm. I highly recommend this jacket.

I wrote this review just after I got this jacket a month or so ago. Everything I wrote below is true, except one thing, and that thing is very important: this is NOT a warm jacket for temperatures in the upper 20s or below! I looked long and hard for a ski-jacket type winter coat to replace one I loved for a long time, which developed an unfixable tear. I settled on this jacket from Free Soldier, a company I had never heard of. From the description I decided this would "work" for me. The sleeve inserts can be pulled down to cover a good part of your hands, while not interfering with gloves, if you're wearing them. (Most annoying and uncomfortable in winter are jackets whose sleeves don't cover your wrists when you stretch out your arms/are active. No problem with that here.) The hood is fleece-lined (why aren't all jacket hoods fleece lined?) and can be tied to fit snugly, keeping out the elements -- two more qualities that many jackets surprisingly don't have. This jacket has five zippered pockets, including an unusual one on the left arm. Oh, and it also came in a nice zippered bag that can be used for storing other things. Revised: This jacket is good for the Midwest winters where I live, AS LONG AS it's not very cold. For COLD weather I have a heavier parka and a stadium-length coat -- but I wish this one was warmer. This jacket is cozy and comfortable -- when it's maybe 35 degrees or above. But much below that it doesn't keep out the wind, and thus the cold. It does not have the kind of plasticized water- and wind-proof coating (I don't know what that's actually called) that my previous ski jacket had, a coating which totally stopped wind and cold. This jacket is waterproof but not particularly windproof, so it doesn't keep you as warm as it should. I'm disappointed. I'm now leaning strongly toward being sorry I bought it. However, if you're getting it for weather that's not colder than the mid-30s, without gale force winds, this will be a very good jacket to have.
