• WORKS WITH THE BEES NATURAL BEETLE-CORRALLING BEHAVIOR - Honey bees naturally chase small hive beetles away from brood and honey stores, pushing them toward the outer edges and corners of the hive box. This trap is designed to sit exactly where beetles are driven between the two outer frames on both sides of the top box. Positioning the trap in the path of corralled beetles makes it more likely that beetles encounter and enter the trap during their natural retreat from the colony.
• HOW TO INSTALL NO TOOLS REQUIRED - Place two traps between the two outer frames on both sides of the top box before adding oil. Fill each trap halfway with food-grade oil before placing in the hive. No tools, hardware, or hive modifications are needed for installation. The trap slots between standard Langstroth frames without adjustment, making installation and replacement straightforward during routine hive inspections throughout the active beetle season.
• SLOT DESIGN ALLOWS BEETLES IN BUT NOT BEES - The trap entry slots are sized to allow small hive beetles to enter the oil compartment while being too narrow for worker bees to pass through. This sizing prevents bees from entering and contacting the oil while still allowing beetles moving along the frame edges to find and enter the trap openings during their retreat from bee corralling behavior inside the hive box.
• FILL HALFWAY WITH OIL DISPOSE WHEN FULL - Fill each trap halfway with food-grade oil before placing in the hive. As beetles enter the oil compartment they cannot exit. When the trap is full or the oil is spent, remove and dispose of the trap and replace with a fresh unit from the 12-pack.
