  • Sampson finds happiness?
Format: Kindle
Well written. Lots of turns and twists. Sampson gets a girl? Good for him. Loved this book. Wondered how they had any jurisdiction on this personal case.

  • A fast enjoyable read
Format: Kindle
James Patterson's Cross novels are fast paced and full of twists, romance, and adventure. Although the case is solved, there's always a hint of more to come in the next one. The chapters are very short but there are many of them, so you always seem to be near a place to stop if you need to do something. But, if you have the time, you know the action is still there waiting for you in the next literary bite. Even though this was eighth in the series, and I had read the first 7, I could have read this first because he told enough of what happened beforehand. Good story! Great writing! ... show more

  • If the mice only knew who the cat was, ha!
Format: Mass Market Paperback
I'm more than half way though this series, at the end of each book I am left wanting to read more and more but at the same time I don't want to run out of Alex Cross books! That's when I know that I found something good, and this doesn't disappoint, if anything it makes me want to read another Cross book the last page is read. Alex is on the brink of retiring and is toying with the possibility of accepting the offer with FBI, the only thing on his path is the last mission he has set for himself, helping Joe Sampson's (his best pal and work partner) old Vietnam buddy Ellis Cooper clear his name from murders he swears he didn't commit. The only problem, Cooper is on death row, sentenced for an execution. Too much evidence has placed him as the killer but when Cross and Sampson try to dig deeper into the case and excavate some of the suspicions that no one has answered they are pushed away by the Army and those involved in the sentencing. This time Cross and Sampson have met a whole new batch of psychos and as usual have to put their lives and their sanity on the line, ah this stuff never gets old! Even though the main topic is a bit sad and depressing, the story is interesting and as usual it's full of what Patterson does well; crazy scenarios, brutal killings, complex characters and heck, even some good food thrown in. Sampson's role grows too as he meets a new lady friend and makes the ending quite interesting. This wasn't my favorite Cross novel but I enjoyed it a lot and read most of it in one sitting. The story plows through in lightening speed even though there is a lot of really short chapters, as usual I liked that it switched from following Alex to trailing the killers and giving the tale depth and perception that would have otherwise be missed if it was only told form one person's point of view. Cross hasn't met his match yet but his luck is stretching painfully thin these days, with each new book there is a new mastermind to battle not to mention issues at home of all sorts, Patterson had shaped this character very well and one can see the growth in each book, I am totally addicted to the series! - Kasia S. ... show more

OMG!!!!!!! This book was so beyond amazing and totally believable. So scary, this is Alex's last case a a Washington homicide detective, and it is a dozzy. It starts out with him and Sampson trying to save a buddy of Sampson's from the army. It leads to many murders and to some people very high up in the Army. It was an amazing read and I can't wait to read the next book. ... show more

I couldn’t trace this maze of murder if I had to! Moving one rock at a time, Alex Cross searches to find out why innocent former soldiers were being targeted as murderers. He thought it was a100 piece puzzle but it turned into a 1,000 piece puzzle. So many pieces were missing from the beginning. Police work aside, Alex faced criseses in family, love and work. ... show more

  • Will Cross die in this one?
Format: Kindle
So far my least favorite of all the Cross novels. A tremendous amount of horrific murders…far more devastating than any of his other books.

  • I purchased "Four Blind Mice"
Format: Kindle
In this Alex Cross mystery he helps out his childhood friend's army buddy try to prove that he is innocent of the multiple murder charge of three army wives. It appears through the investigation that this buddy has been set up, but Alex and his friend do not have enough hard evidence to change the army's mind, so the friend is executed. Alex feels he let his friend down and continues to investigate. He discovers their are other men in the army framed for murders they strongly denied before execution. It is hard to make the connection of how these cases are related but eventually the story line comes together. Patterson allows you to believe it may not happen because of the way the miltary protects their own. We do know something happened during the Viet Nam war that someone is trying to cover up. It would have been nice to know what happend in that war a little earlier in the story. I think that part could have been expanded a little earlier. In the book Patterson allows the reader to get to know the assisans who are commiting the murders and framing innocent men. Through these men's conversation's you know there is someone who is giving them the money and details of who to murder and blame for the crimes. The author keeps you guessing about who is the fourth blind mice until the end. It is a stretch but Patterson weaves it convincingly. I was a little surprised to learn the idenity of the fourth blind mice. I've purchased several of the Alex Cross mysteries at Amazon. I like this because I like to begin a series at the beginning to get to know the characters. Patterson continues to weave the personal lives of his character's into his stories. If you like murder mysteries you will like this book. ... show more
