During a kitchen remodel, I had a carpenter add an exterior penetration so I could put in an actual range hood. I had fairly high hopes for the Fotile range hood, but I’m impressed with how well it sucks up smoke. I can braise rack of lamb and sear steaks on the stovetop without smoking up my house. I’ve had some pretty nasty flare-up when deglazing with alcohol, but this thing works like a champ. I like the grease trap tray at the bottom as opposed to the standard mesh screen that gets saturated and gross. Install instructions were good as well. Templating was a bit of a pain and I think they could come up with a better cabinet cut list. It seems like you cut away a bit more than is actually necessary, but it probably does help with clearance when pivoting the range hood into place. You also need spacers to keep the unit from warping when pulled up if your cabinets have a lip underneath. I’d recommend measuring the height of the lip and ordering some at the same time as the hood. I recommend looking up “aluminum spacer 3/4” OD 3/8” ID” at whatever length you need. My one minor disappointment is that I was hoping that the range hood would work like a periscope so I could see what was going on in the pot/pan from across the kitchen, but due to the angles and mounting height, it doesn’t really work as one.

My experience with the FOTILE JQG7501.G 30" Range Hood has been a mixed bag of pros and cons. While it boasts some unique features, it falls short in other crucial aspects, leaving me with a sense of disappointment. Firstly, the "Unique Side-Draft Design" caught my attention, promising efficient smoke and odor removal. However, I found that it struggled to effectively capture all the fumes, especially when cooking on the back burners. It's like the side-draft design had its limitations, leaving my kitchen with lingering odors. The option for "Under Cabinet or Wall Mount" installation seemed convenient, but the installation process itself was a major headache. The instructions were unclear, and the required hardware was missing, causing unnecessary delays and frustration. The "Powerful Motor" was one of the selling points, but it turned out to be quite noisy. It's like having a mini jet engine in the kitchen every time I used the range hood. It's not exactly what I expected from a modern kitchen vent hood. The "LED Lights" provided ample illumination for cooking, but they started flickering after just a few weeks of use. It's disappointing to see such a vital feature malfunctioning so quickly. The "Silver Grey Tempered Glass Surface" added a touch of elegance to my kitchen, but it turned out to be a magnet for fingerprints and smudges. It required constant wiping and cleaning to maintain its pristine appearance. On a positive note, the range hood did a decent job at venting the smoke and steam generated while cooking. I purchased this and was disappointed to see that the silver/gray color does not match any of my stainless steel appliances. So I returned it and got the more expensive black, which does match the black parts of my appliances much better. I installed it myself, even running the duct work hidden through cabinets and out the side exterior wall. Installation was DIY with about $200 of material. A duct work company qouted me $1200 and would have the ducts visible over the cabinets, so I did a better job myself for a sixth of the price. This is awesome! It looks great, and the CFMs is much better than my over the range microwave vent it replaced. Highly recommend this. Clean up is easy with just a wipe, which I do maybe once every 2 weeks.

The fan works and looks great. It easily installed as a replacement to an under cabinet microwave, with existing vent duct. However, it arrived damaged in the packaging. Both sides were dented. As we used a contractor to install it would have been difficult to reschedule the installation and return for replacement fan, so we installed it anyway as is.
