  • Top Notch...
After reading reviews and watching the videos from the HiFi community and seeing the specs put to the test from places like Audio Science, I pulled the trigger on this phono preamp and I am glad I did. Really brought out the best from my Sumiko moving coil cartridge. It's beating out competition that's three times the cost or more. Do yourself a favor and grab this unit if you're in the market for a phono preamp. Edit: So after about a week the unit stopped working. No output from either channel. Sounded great and was very pleased with this preamp but then it just turned it's toes up and does not function. What a shame. I'll be avoiding a replacement and just get a refund for something better. Edit 2: Update 3/12/25 - In response to my feedback, Fosi reached out to me and offered a replacement that has been updated. As of today, I have been running the replacement for two days with some extensive playtime and the sound is as good as I had remembered and it is holding up. Last time was a week before failure, so in another week or two I will update again. I must say that their customer service and dedication to providing a quality product is refreshing and welcome. Edit: Update 3/21/25 - After a week of running a moving magnet cartridge (38 dB gain setting) and a high output moving coil cartridge (48 dB gain setting), things have been smooth with the new unit. Sound is amazing and there is still zero noise from this preamp. I'm now on day 3 of running a moving coil cartridge with 0.5mV output using 56 dB gain. It is working flawlessly. In a few days I will switch to a 0.3mV output moving coil cartridge and utilize the 66 dB gain option. If all goes well I will give one final update. Seems things have been sorted out and this phono preamp from Fosi is working magic. Edit: Update 3/27/25 - Almost three weeks in now and the replacement unit has been working flawlessly. At this point I would have to say that Fosi made sure that they addressed any issues and were definitely aiming at providing a quality product. Their customer service was exceptional and this phono amp I can honestly say is one of my favorites. It provides above par sound quality and there is no distortion or noise from this unit. I've adjusted my rating...for sound and cost, this really cannot be beat. I would give it a final 4.5-4.75 stars. ... show more

  • Awesome Phono Pre! Absolutely Killer Piece To Get That Rivals $300+ Pres
When I say this is the best phono-preamplifier you could buy for under $350, I mean it. This thing absolutely is worth it's weight in gold. I use it daily, for hours a day. It sounds amazing. It's better than the stock Fluance and Pro-Ject ones that they sell for $100 and it's even better than the Pro-Ject Phono Box S2 Ultra. I returned that, kept this. It allows you to switch between MC and MM carts. Gives you a whopping 66dB of gain if you need that. Has a small and sleek looking form factor. It does use a wall wart power adapter so account for that. If you need a phono pre and honestly even if you don't but wanna blow your stock turntable out of the water in terms of sound quality and punch, this is it for $100 it's a great investment. It's got simple connectivity and setup, you just go from the table out via rca's into the phono pre and out of the phono pre into your receiever or amplifier/powered speakers via rca as well. Simple. I'm not some affiliate, just a hi-fi audio girl who loves listening to good quality music on wax. This absolutely allows for that without breaking the bank. I'm writing this review after the 90 day mark and in the first 90 days it's been perfect to me. Time will tell, but even if I get two or three years out of it, I think the bang to buck performance is worth it. ... show more

  • Simple and Great Value preamp
Been using for 2 weeks now, plugged into a JBL Partybox 120 from Technics 1200 and have no complaints! Great little preamp that makes the vinyl sound pop with full spectrum sound, mids and accents well distinguished. Very simple to use, once you dial in the db level selector it does the rest and you control the volume on your amp. Low key but good price for the value IMO. Far better than a basic solid state preamp i was using for the past month that boosted the signal but was not as dynamic soundwise. And 1000% better than a more expensive tube preamp that was returned within 2 days b/c it compromised the high and low end. That one looked super cool but had to go. ... show more

  • Clear, Sharp Sound with Bass Focus.
Purchased this unit to give my mid- range AT LP3 turntable a boost in performance. I’m impressed with the improved clarity and bass focus relative to the LP3’s integrated preamp. Nice upgrade to my soundstage at a low price.

  • enoug gain to make a dynavector moving coil cartridge work and no hum clean sound
I have a dynavector cartridge high output moving coil. 2.5mv. Most amps with phono input expect 5mv so my volume was pretty low and had a lot of hum if turned up enough to hear good volume. I needed a boost and tried several MM phono pre amps at 40-45 db but when I got this one the extra boost enabled by allowing to set to MC and adjust the gain allowed me to get all the boost I could ever want without even being on the highest gain. This cartridge allows MM or MC due to the 2.5mv but MM was just not enough. The highest gain distorted a bit. Just wish this Fosi had a dial setting instead of a switch with limited presets. That way I could fine tune it to be as loud as possible without any distortion but I found one that now allows the volume to be same or a little more than the CD and DAC. Quality of sound is incredible on my Dayton HTA200 because of the treble and bass adjustments on the integrated amp. I finally listen to records again as intended. Had a McIntosh C22 and two MC275s running two Tannoy GRF speakers so I am sort of spoiled. The McIntosh does not give enough higher level to justify paying an extra 18000 for. I set about trying to find an acceptable budget equal and I feel I have that now. Sold the amps and selling the C22. Got some tubes to roll and all is well. Would like to try a value 300B setup next. Just need to fine one with all the features I need. 3 input and adjustable treble and bass. Happy customer. EL34 amp would be nice too. hmm ... show more
