This is my third set of these automatic grinders. The first two sets (the tyoe with the reservoir at the bottom) had a tendency to get messed up by the salt migrating into the battery compartment, since there was an easy path inside the top under the upper cover. These have the reservoir near the top and the batteries at the bottom, which is a much better design. I have not had any power issues that some people mentioned. I use sea salt (saltier than the fancy pink stuff) and colored pepper corns. It uses 4 aaa batteries vs my previous one's 6 aa's. Maybe they're is an issue if you use rechargables (lower voltage)? The on / off switch is a nice addition. The only small complaint i have is the turn off is a little slow, so i know there might end up being a little extra grind left in the top that will be there for the next usage.

UPDATE: I'm updating this to 5 stars because the vendor must have seen my post because I got a response from them, however they didn't fully understand what I was talking about and they wanted to make it right so I said sure. Not long after that email I received a new set of the exact same grinders. But still no charging block. (Charging block is the part you plug into the wall to plug your type C charging cord into that IS included in the set). So because they were so concerned in making it right they reached out to me almost immediately. Their CS is 5 stars and so are their grinders. If you order these great grinders just be sure you have a spare type-C charging block........... Not everyone has extra charging blocks if any at all. This does not come with a charging block so if you don't have 1 be sure and order 1 ft or it ADDED EXPENSE!! Coupling believe there wasn't a way to charge these. I will probably return just for that reason, no matter how good they grind. Ridiculous they assume you have a charging block and I didn't see in the description anything advising this is unusable unless you buy a charging block, something they should have told you. I have charging blocks I can use but not interested having to move them from other devices just to charge this. You need to let people know they need to purchase a charging block adding to the total cost of this unit. Only way I'm going to keep this is if they see this review and send me a charging block!

Needed a one-handed set, so looked primarily at gravity versions. They all had either dirty (after use)/ugly grinders sitting up in the air or pop-on covers to hide that sight. Having to put a cover on seems to ruin the whole idea of the one-hand, one-step concept (grab the salt or pepper and turn it over to start grinding). After lots of searching, I found these. The covers look nice and they are the only automatic ones I found. When you turn the grinder over, the cover just drops out of the way while grinding, and then goes back in place when you turn the grinder back over to set it down. Genius and they works flawlessly. Other manufacturers should take the hint.

Over the past 30 years I have owned at least four sets of battery powered salt and pepper mills. Up until these, they have been tall and had button at the top to press. In addition, the small reservoir was located beneath the batteries and the motor housing, above the grinding unit, and held only a few tablespoons of either sale or pepper. The mill was finished at the bottom with a cap that cover the port. If the cap was not removed, a collection of salt or pepper was captured by the cap. When the cap was lost, little grains of salt or flakes of pepper were left where ever the mills has been sitting before use. This unit uses AAA instead of AA batters. They are lighter. The reservoirs are larger. The reservoir door is transparent and can be difficult to open. The mill's port is at the top. The mill is fitted with a slide switch that 1) can be used to start and stop the grind, or 2) can be set so that when the mill is tilted sufficiently, the grind begins. It i s easy tp adjust the grind with a large knurled knob in the top center. There is no cap to forget to remove or forget where it was last seen.

I like this set. I'm so glad I got it. I like that it holds a nice amount and I can feel it grinding up those chunks. Nothing is better than fresh ground pepper and salt. These are fantastic!

Happy with the performance of the set. Really enjoy the fresh ground taste. Only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is the pepper grinding could be dialed in a little better for smaller (consistent) grounds. Aside from that has been a product so far.

Exactly as described. Nice smooth feel. I ordered the wood grain version and it looks sleek, and smooth. the grinder comes on right out of the box and it adjusts to fine or coarse easily. they sit in the chraging station easily and do not take up alot of space. the only downside is the carpartment isn't very big to fill up your peppercorns and not easily filled, but that is not a big deal for the appearance, value and simplicity of use.
