Two days ago I made a char siu marinade for tofu and sealed slices of tofu with the marinade in the large container. I did press the tofu for about an hour or so to expel some of the water. I grilled the tofu and, OMG, it was so good - great flavor on the outside and inside through out. It absorbed almost too much marinade - the flavor was that pronounced! Before grilling,I could see that the marinade level was way down, and figured the vacuum caused much of it to be absorbed by the tofu. It's frustrating that they do not hold a vacuum for more than a day, or until I release the vacuum by choice. I had to reapply the vacuum after the first day. I have an ancient Foodsaver V1515 with just the tube attachment and it worked fine. Maybe that's way the vacuum didn't hold, and either way, I'm quote happy with the results. ... show more

...but, sometimes the valve is difficult to open and the lid seal will occasionally come unseated when opening. However, I've never lost vacuum from a sealed container. This is important.

    • No matter what I tried the large container would not keep a vacuum seal more than about 24 hours.

The little container worked as expected keeping the vacuum for over a week. Not so for the Big container that didn't hold a vacuum or 24 hours. The same electronic device was used to pull down the vacuum on both containers with more time being given to the large container due to the additional volume. ... show more
