  • Awesome build quality and sound quality
I use these speakers in the back doors of my outlander sport, they were really easy to install with the brackets. They sound amazing and they get really loud without distoring

  • CLEAR ! And powerful enough for this price!
They really went above my expectations, first speakers I bought that sound this clean, and they are not even the really expensive ones, also powerful if paired with a good amp. Loved them

  • Excellent component speakers
Amazing upgrade with excellent highs and mids. Great bass for a 6 1/2”s only complaint is the connectors are extremely tight and easily bend the post/terminals. Directions are horrible but nothing YouTube can’t fix.

  • Great upgrade speakers!
Bought these to swap out from Alpine S speakers. They are very balanced speakers and seem to do an amazing job at sound separation. The mids are strong and bass is good, but not overpowering or “booming.” Vocals are strong without sounding shrill. These should be used with a sub. The tweeters are very crispy without being shrill unlike the alpines. I have them hooked up to a factory amplifier 350 watts total for the whole system but plan on getting an aftermarket amp to give them real juice. It seems there’s no winning with speakers under $200. They all are good in their own ways. It’s nearly impossible to choose without hearing for yourself and comparing. Update: After spending more time with these, they are great speakers, but the tweeters are very sharp. While not shrill, they are very pronounced. I had to turn my treble to 0 or -1 to avoid ear fatigue. They're still way better than the Alpine S's I tried. Still waiting to compare these against the Morel Maximo Ultra 602, and I'll update this review to see what I find out. Compared to the Morel Maximo Ultra it was a really tough call. They are both great speakers but the Morels were more mild and mellow sounding. The Focals provide amazing clarity but can be harsh at times if not adjusted properly. I kept the Focals as the clarity is just amazing. But getting the adjustment right takes some time. ... show more

  • Every Car is Different
Any serious audio enthusiast will tell you that the listening room is as important as the equipment. Rooms in homes can be tweaked, treated, rearranged to make the equipment sound better and integrate the speakers. Cars, not so much. That's why I looked for an installer that had specific experience with Subaru Foresters, and asked them to recommend speakers in my price range. And that's how I ended up with these Focals, which really do sound spectacular in my 2015 Forester. Every car is different. The size and angle of the windshield has a direct effect on up-firing tweeters installed in the dash, as does the amount of glass all around. The volume of the door cavity, and how far forward and how near the floor the speaker location is, directly effects bass extension and midrange projection. The shape and volume of the car's interior, the type of upholstery, the number of passengers... it all has an effect. How can I know if other speakers would have sounded better? Without sitting in other Foresters with different systems, I can't. I do know how much better these sound than the factory speakers: worlds better. The difference between, say, average portable computer speakers and a very good hi-fi bookshelf speakers. They are accurate to the source (as I can tell by playing a sampling of my own recordings). They add no perceptible distortion at normal volume. Their bass extension goes well into the bottom octave of a bass guitar or double bass, although it falls off by the lowest note. But there are no distortions or false overtones, no booming. The high end is extended and clean (and will therefore reveal the flaws in low-bitrate streams and rips). I don't know the exact crossover frequency, but it's low enough to help pull the stereo image up off the floor and place it mostly in front of you. Midrange remains balanced and integrated, and only minor tweaks of my 10-bang EQ seem needed to dial the sound right in. So are these the right speakers for you and your car? They could be. They are certainly high-quality, capable speakers that have great potential in the right vehicle. They will appeal to the listener who values accuracy and doesn't want speakers that add their own quality to the music. But if you can find an installer with extensive experience with your specific car and get a recommendation, you might benefit. ... show more
