I tried the memory foam toppers and I did not like them. They had a terrible smell, which remained for days, were so heavy they were hard to maneuver. Ended up returning. The egg crate foam is what I really wanted but was having a hard time finding them. I have had them in the past and loved them. Mine needed replacing. It seemed like everybody had memory foam ones. Anyway, I finally found this topper and it is great. It did have a chemical/foam smell at first and all of them do they warn you to air it out. So I aired it out and it was clear within 24 hours. I bought the one with the cover, but I decided the cover was what was making the topper curve and not lay flat on the bed so I removed it. Don't get the cover it makes the topper bend/curve and not adhere to the mattress, unless you want it for storage. Other than that this egg crate foam topper really helps give you a good night's sleep.

My wife and I have tried so many combinations of mattresses and mattress toppers that we have lost count at this point. We found this topper interesting both because it promised more cooling, but wasn't that expensive. I have to admit, it was a bit strange to sleep on for a few nights because of the pyramid texture. But once we got used to it, it actually worked really well - good support, good cooling, better than toppers that were twice the price.

After reading the reviews here, I planned a week to air it out in the garage before using. It smelled but not too much. The smell was as expected, knowing this is no blade of grass I'm ordering. No rips or holes. It was well packaged. Nothing to complain about.
