Great product seems like its gonna last me a lifetime, however if you are a bigger person with thick thighs its gonna be a little tight. Not enough to restrict circulation but youll definitely notice its presence

Pros: Seems well built. Small if you need a small kneeboard. Cons: ..... I'm a commercial pilot not a military one so I cannot speak for the needs of military aviators but for me this kneeboard is terrible. To begin, it's just too small to hold the items that I typically keep bound in my kneeboard......checklists, plates and the occasional chart. When I am finished a flight I like to close my kneeboard knowing that the items are secure and protected inside some kind of enclosure which this kneeboard does not provide. Even the leg strap will not wrap around the unit to at least keep things together. It has three pen holders??? All of which are aligned vertically so you need to remove them before you fold the kneeboard otherwise they just stick out sideways. It has a tiny yet bulky pocket which the box describes as a "place to keep earplugs" ??? I have never needed to carry earplugs in my kneeboard and unless I begin carrying postage stamps or Chicklets while I work, this pocket is useless to me. The box also describes the binder holes as a universal fit.....maybe I'm some kind of special moron but NONE of my inserts be they Jepp, ASA, or Century Plastics aligned with the holes on the kneeboard. Infact I had ordered some costly page covers directly from the manufacturer and amazingly they did not align either. I also do not understand what, unless you're flying an open cockpit biplane, the transparent strap is all about. For me, it is simply more bulk and another part of the messy design of the unit. Lastly, if you plan on flying while wearing shorts, the manufacturer has decided to place the rough side of the velcro attachment pad on the bottom of the kneeboard which isn't exactly comfortable. In the end I decided to take my worn out Jepp trifold to an alterations shop and had it repaired for 18 bucks. Good as new for another dozen years. The vendor I purchased it from wants a 20% restocking fee so I guess I'll gve this thing away. On a side note, because the manufacturer boasts that this design has been the choice of military aviators since 1995 I decided to show it to two Navy pilots that I know. Neither had seen one before nor were they interested in it.....even for free. ... show more

I purchased this as a gift for my brother. At the time I purchased I didn't know much on what he'd need when flying. I researched brands and found that Flyboys is one of the top rated brands for pilots. I was excited to see my brothers reaction when opening. Once he did, he immediately started transferring his pilot gear into the compartments. This will easily fit an iPad, notebook on the flat surface. Binder rings do not come included, but flying is an expensive hobby...binder rings are not. The clear strap secures your iPad as well as a notebook clip up top for notebooks or logs. The clear strap looks to be removable and wouldn't get in the way of writing or swiping on the iPad, strictly there for keeping items secure. All in all, my brother enjoys it and can't wait to use it. ... show more

This works perfectly for pilots that are limited on space. I fly R22โ€™s and this works perfectly and doesnโ€™t get in the way of the collective or cyclic. 10/10 recommend.
