Description

Always on and always monitoring cabin carbon monoxide, the new CO sensor is optimally calibrated to provide audible and visual warnings via Kanari smart alert technology at preset or user-defined CO thresholds. Using a custom 12-frequency hearing test in the new Lightspeed app, create your own personalized HearingEQity profile to optimize every ATC call and conversation specifically for your individual hearing profile. Individualized profiles can be saved, and different headset users can switch profiles. The Lightspeed Delta Zulu is the first headset to adopt the UAC plug, allowing you to connect to other devices directly from the headset for charging, audio, and data transmissions. It can also be charged while flying via USB.

  • Great Headset

  • Hard to beat this Headset
Model: GA Dual Plugs
I love this headset. I flew for 6 1/2 hours and it was comfortable and quiet the whole way. Keeps track of CO as well. I adjusted the hearing frequencies for my ears, great. Although I wish it had a little more adjustment for the hearing freq,s. It’s a little heavier than the Bose X I have but didn’t notice it. ... show more

  • Really nice headset.
Model: GA Dual Plugs
Great headset. It’s very comfortable and the sound quality is great. The Bluetooth works great. It misses the 5 stars because the recording in the app on the iPhone is very faulty and a lot of the times it won’t even record. It’s very buggy in that aspect, but if you don’t care about the recording function it would be 5 stars. As a student pilot, the recording is important for me, so I can listen to my radio calls and be able to see how I can improve. ... show more

  • Better than its competition the A30s
Model: GA Dual Plugs
I love these headsets! I was comparing them with Bose A30s and was going back and forth because the sound quality was similar Bose had a slight edge on clarity but these didn’t have the annoying popping and white noise I was experiencing with the A30s. In addition the CO detector has already worked for me in warning me about rising CO levels in the cabin. The headset lets you know when battery is low to recharge or swap with the other battery pack provided. The chord on Lightspeed is the best! Making phone calls with the headset is clear. If I wanted to be picky I would say I wish you can charge the battery separately, have a charge indicator light, and a usb C charge port. I haven’t tested the audio recording function. The hearing program to adjust to your hearing I can see as a great feature if you start to loose hearing as you can adjust certain frequencies that you have harder time hearing. ... show more

  • Audio Recording and Hearing Loss Compensation are very helpful
Model: GA Dual Plugs
Excellent active noise cancellation. I compared to Bose A30s - both are equally good and are far better than the old David Clark H10-13X headset I have. I don't think there's any further advancement needed on the ANC technology - you don't want to fly in total silence - a little background engine noise is an important part of piloting and the Lightspeed gives just the right amount. Very comfortable to wear. At 14oz they seemed a little heavy, but I immediately forgot about them once I had them on my head. As a new student the feature to record all audio is very helpful for reviewing lessons and replaying a flight along with the Foreflight tracklog. I specifically use the recordings to review the calls from tower that I missed or didn't understand, and to practice hearing and writing down the key items from ATIS, and to make notes about the corrections my CFI gave me during maneuvers. I have upper range hearing loss which is what initially attracted me to the Lightspeed DZs. The "Hearing EQuity" feature setup works just like the hearing test at Costco or the test used with Airpod Pros on an iPhone. This feature noticeably compensates for my hearing loss - allowing me to focus on learning the lingo and being tuned in to my call sign. The built-in CO detector wasn't so important to me, but I may change my mind about that if someday I hear the CO alarm announcement from the headset. Some reviewers complain about the UAC jack for connecting the charge cable. It is an uncommon jack although I have encountered it in cameras. The headset comes with a UAC to USB-A cable and you can buy USB-C and other types from Lightspeed or on Amazon. On Amazon the UAC connection is referred to as UC-E6. I expect a future new Lightspeed headset will have switched from UAC to USB-C since that seems to be becoming universal. I'm guessing Bose will be catching up on the audio recording and hearing loss compensation features in their next new version, because I am finding those 2 features to be pretty significant reasons to go with the Lightspeed DZs. I haven't encountered any aspect where the Bose A30s have an advantage. ... show more

  • Excellent head set. Mostly pros and a few cons.
Model: GA Dual Plugs
Pros: Great sound quality and NR. Awesome styling. NICE case. Extra battery module. Built-in carbon-monoxide detector is interesting. Assists hearing impaired. Durable cord. Well-designed control module. Cons: Price. Quirky USB adapter. No LED to tell you if the set is charging or how much charge there is, unless you open up the app. ... show more

  • a 1,200 head set shouldn't have these problems out of the box
Model: GA Dual Plugs
Immediately when i put the headset on and turned on the volume there was a high pitch ringing in the right side of the headphone - not only annoying but i think it could hurt your ears. Also, the app to control the settings on the headset only works with i-phones - and I use android. This should not happen when you buy this expensive of a headset. If you are an android phone user - don't buy. Other wise I would expect for this price that none of these issues - especially the ringing in your ear - to happen. Very dissapointed. ... show more
