Heat protection for trans lines close to a header.
I got these for my transmission cooler metal lines that run right next to my new long tube headers to keep the lines/trans fluid as cool as possible. I used these because I had the transmission out for a rebuild and could slide these over the lines. ATTN: wear gloves when installing these because there is fiberglass in these and it will get all stuck in your fingers and annoy you for days (don’t ask how I know). These weren’t as flexible and bendable as I was hoping to go around the prebent metal trans lines and as you do flex and bend the product the aluminum foil exterior starts to tear and crack. Overall I hope this helps to protect the trans lines and keeps them cooler.

Must have line disconnected to use this.
I have always had good experiences with DEI products but I think this listing is a little misleading. When you look at the listing there is a video which very clearly displays velcro on the product. This would indicate that the product can be applied to lines without removing them first which isnt the case. Again the product is a great value and performs well but I think this listing could be a little more clear.

Expensive heat protection but worth it
I bougt the 1" heat sheath to protect the exhuast from my diesel heater from melting the fuel line. The cheap chinese stuff works ok but this stuff is much better. The inner fiberglass insulation is coated by a tougher alumnum outer coating. It's very easy to slide over the 1" exhaust tube and keeps heat away from the plastic fuel line. I had an extar 8" and covered the fuel line too so I'm double protected. Highly recommend spending the extra $$ for the good stuff if it's for safety. It's very ewsy to cut with a pair of scissors and it doesn't fray as easily as the cheap stuff does.

So Far, So Good
I needed heat protection for a couple of 16 awg gxl lines I ran to power rock lighting under my off-roader since the wires route past the exhaust man and the catalytic converter. I mean, yes the wiring is a good 6" away, but why take a chance since melted wires will result in a short which can result in fire. This sleeve slid over the wire loom with some maneuvering since I ordered the 1/2" heat sheath and the loom was 1/4", but that was my bad. In the end, this is doing just what I wanted, protecting the wiring from extreme temperatures in the engine bay. Now I haven't taken the vehicle on a good long shake-out run yet, but I will and if there are problems, I will update this review.

Nothing's blown up!
OK, a bit hokey on the title, perhaps, but that *is* one thing it's intended to protect against, right? Keep flexible fuel lines from getting torched. I have two of these and one wrap-on heat shield running near my new engine, and they're all doing well. I check them periodicially and find no damage. Pros * Easy to use -- unpackage, slide in your fuel line or other heat-sensitive cabling or lines. Put in place. Stay safe. * Accurate sizing. Ordered 0.5", got 0.5". Another one I got was 0.75" and that too was accurate. Cons * Slightly delicate weave -- be careful when handling these, to avoid snagging and pulling threads. This is nothing I think I should dock a star for. The shielding works great.

Hate protection that is working.
Like the fact that it does keep my wiring from getting burnt. Only wished I would have bought the one that has Velcro to put over wiring. Now I know more money but will be worth it to cover all areas that are in range of headers. This stuff works!

some fuel lines and electrical wires can easily get damaged due to excessive heat
High performance engines produce an over excessive amount of heat in the engine compartment, some fuel lines and electrical wires can easily get damaged due to excessive heat, especially some electrical cables next to the headers. Heat can decrease proper electrical current, with this Aluminized Sleeving, I was able to decrease some heat and keep my electrical cables sending proper current with no decrease in performance.

Looks good
Looks like quality. Although I really thought I ordered the one that had Velcro so you could apply without removing stuff. But this should work fine for shielding starter wires
