I had a tough rubber hose that I needed to cut up to fit in the garbage can. That hose was really tough, but this saw was able to cut through. It has a detent to prevent it from closing on your fingers. I haven't tried it yet for pruning so I can't comment on that, but if it cuts through that hose it should easily cut through medium diameter branches. ... show more
