  • Works well.
I use this as a cheap com setup for my UTV. 9volt battery actually lasts about 16 hours of riding and talking. Clear communication and adjustment for squelch and volume work as they should. Input for radio works well enough and seems to be durable enough to deal with dusty conditions.

  • Great budget intercom
I purchased this to use in our Can-Am Commander riding in the Black Hills, and it didn't disappoint. We were able to plug in our headsets and an iPod and talk hands free with the intercom since it's voice activated, and listen to the music when we weren't talking. There is a small jack for the iPod to plug into itself instead of having to get a splitter for one of the boom mic plugs. The intercom can be powered by a 9V battery, or it comes with the power port plug adapter for continuous power without the battery. There is even an expansion pack to be able to add another 2 headsets to this intercom to make it a 4 person intercom if your situation would require that. This worked perfect for us without any failure. Impressive. ... show more

  • Very good inexpensive unit. Happy with it. Minor complaints. Good tech-support.
Basically it works very well. Squelch is adjustable suitably. Sound quality is good. Tech-support is very easy to reach that we probably won’t need it. My only complaint is that setting up a second push to talk for the copilot, if you want to copilot to help push to talk can be quite a clutch of extra adapters and patch cables. At least that is so if the copilot is to have his her her own push to talk switch. In my case we have a center stick and the pilot and copilot can use the same push to talk switch. At least it came with a simple wire adapter. I do like that I have the choice of running it on a 9 V battery or plugging it in to the Aircraft 12 months cigarette tape socket. Thank you wish it had a little bit smaller physical profile. Originally had mine this morning that died after 14 years. Just got a new one. Just got a new one. Other complaint is that when the 9 volt battery gets low, but you don’t know that because the battery power light is still flashing, you can get _intermittent_ failure of the passenger to hear the pilot speech. And if you don’t know it’s simply a matter of replacing the battery you can go crazy troubleshooting it. Other than that symptom of flakiness, The only possible clue to a low, but not yet dead, battery is the power on flashing light might get a little bit dull. According to the manual and tech-support the flashing light on battery operation should go out when voltage is too low, but my experience is he may not be able to trust that. In any case I would always carry a spare a 9 V battery Readily available. ... show more

  • Used this for our UTV (buggy)
Our Can -Am is so loud and it hard to talk to one other when we go riding. This was perfect since we already had 2 aviation headsets. Friends of ours pay $1,000 to $2,000 for their setups. Yes there are cords but they are long and we don’t have any issues while riding.

  • Kawasaki teryx 4 UTV
Out in my teryx 4, with some nice aviation headsets. Volume is plenty loud enough, and the squelch is easy adjusted. Also have the expansion module for the back seat passengers. Hook up music through the inputs, and outputs to talk over the phone too (or external speaker). Wayyyy cheaper that a “off-road” intercom for $1000+. I’m about $420 in for two front headsets, the intercom and expansion module, and two helmet sets, worth every penny! Makes the rise more more enjoyable and fun to talk to everyone. You can pop in a 9V battery and go wireless or use the cigarette adapter. I put on my gasket sealer around the edges and now it’s water resistant, just don’t pressure wash it ... show more

  • Makes normal conversation possible in noisy environments
I bought this to serve as a means for intercom communication for my Polaris Sling-Shot, which is an open cockpit form of a Trike Motorcycle. My only complaint about the Slingshot is that it is far too loud to allow normal conversation to take place. Why? There is no sound deadening between the Fire Wall, Transmission Tunnel as well as the single drive arm that transitions the axle Drive Shaft to the belt driven single drive wheel. Because I have experience in General Motors Proving Grounds Prototype Engineering process and therefore aware of the various stages of vehicle development prior to the manufacturing of same; sound deadening is one of many factors taken in to consideration. And because I have a Private Pilot License (VFR) I have intimate knowledge of communication necessary for people hear each other in a noisy environment. This Portable Flight-Com makes communicating much simpler between driver and passenger's with a David Clark Headsets used in noisy environment. ... show more

  • Quality
I bought this as an intercom system for my Can Am Commander. I paired it with 2 Cadence CA501headsets. It works exactly as advertised. The squelch kept the engine noise down and speech was very clear. These are the same NRR as passive shooting ear muffs except with added features. I added a Bluetooth adapter to the “aux in” and we had music too. There is plenty of volume to hear music and speech just fine. You can hear exterior sound just enough to tell if there is an engine issue or is someone honks a horn behind you. Glad I made the purchase! ... show more
