Item looked good, but after opening the box , each corner was damaged from being dropped during shipping. I still thought I would test out a piece with the water hose nozzle on the "gentle shower" setting. The rains we have been having in East Tennessee recently, are far more violent than this "gentle shower". As you can see from the picture, it was skipping right off there. And the last photo shows the water standing on the guard over the holes without draining through. Looks like some David Blaine bull mess. ... show more

    • Great product but...
I would say the product it self is great. What factors to consider would be how your going to install them. Like the ground around your house. Can you reach the gutter without putting a latter up against them. Is the ground around your house even where you can use an A frame latter to install. Mine was tough to install with a latter up against the gutter because the highest part of my house is about 25ft off the ground and uneven ground. Trying to install the guard in such close proximity in front of you took time. The ones in front of my house was easy i could reach them with an A frame latter so the latter never touched the gutter. My gutters are 6in and the latter up against them pushed them in enough to make it complicated to fit correctly. Just my 2 cents hope it helps someone ... show more

This is a well-designed product. I live in the Black Forest area of Colorado at 7,500 ft. in elevation. Five inch pine straw is my problem. Cleaning the gutters 2-3 times a year is never enough. I have 158 ft. of commercial 6”gutter; below a concrete tile roof; and have installed 2/3’s of the gutter cover between snow storms. The joint overlap, size of the holes, and the 3 ridges keeps the pine straw out and off the gutters. The wind blows the pine straw off. Installation takes some time for me, I’m 70, and the commercial grade 6”gutter is heavy gauge aluminum, and the flashing that overlaps the rear of the gutter, require me to drill a 3/32” pilot hole. Cleaning the pine straw out of the gutters; drilling 8 pilot holes; installing the 8 screws; and moving the ladder, takes me 40 minutes per 4 ft. section. I’m confident that once I have it all installed, I will have solved my pine straw problem. Note: I researched several other gutter systems. I could not use plastic/vinyl at my elevation. Other system would be fine for leaves, but not pine straw. I purchased 200 ft. of the Flexx Point 30 Year Gutter Cover System. The value was excellent compared to other systems. ... show more

I did it...not an easy project for a 58 y.o. lady, but it's done. The struggles I had were two-fold. First I realized quickly after starting that I didn't have the correct nut driver. I started reading and realized that in order to have any chance of installing these correctly, I needed to invest the $13 in a 6" long 1/4" magnetic nut driver. There are less expensive ones but the reviews paled in comparison to the Malco one. So, 2 days later, Amazon brought it to my door and I tried the project again. My second struggle was just upper body strength to pierce the galvanized metal flashing behind my gutter. The screws they provide with this product work great on the front lip, but if I had to do it again, I might buy ones with a sharper bit for connecting the guards on the back or use two drills and predrill the back screw holes. The other thing is this company needs to improve their packaging. The ends of these were bent because of being tossed around during shipping. Fortunately, these are bendable and I was able to move them back into place. But the addition of a cardboard piece on the ends would be smart of the manufacturer. I don't know how these compare to the other brand that looks similar, but I would compare the thickness of these to an aluminum soda can. See photos for more details. ... show more

    • These covers do not clog -
Debris blows off. Work much better than expanded wire, plastic covers and foam products that I have used and discarded. Foam inserts clogged after several years and froze solid in the winter.Other products caught debris and/or were easily knocked out of place. Finer dirt will make it into the gutter but doesn't seem to obstruct my 6" gutters or clog at the downspout. Covers are secured with screws, so no problem with wind or critters. I leave a small opening directly above the outlet and a second at the extreme end of the run to allow an inlet for a hose should the need ever arise. Installation in my case was easier with an extension for the hex bit to install screws. Also found that an inexpensive pick from the hardware store allowed me to pull the guard up in the rear while the screw was inserted. Front edge screws down easily. ... show more

I bought the 6” guard in brown. They’re very consistent in size, finish and quality. Installed them myself, using the supplied sheet-metal screws. It was a breeze. I STRONGLY recommend both a magnetic 1/4” bit and an extender of maybe 6”. They look great, although you can’t see them from street level. I’ve noticed almost no leaves accumulating on them, and I live on a heavily wooded 3/8-acre lot. They really do let the wind lift and remove leaves! ... show more

    • Great product, easy install with right tools and screws
I really like that these are made in USA, came quickly, and are easy to install and work with, but there are some recommendations to make install easy. First, you need some good 1/4" magnetic nut drivers, preferably 6" long. The back screws are difficult to get in with a small nut driver. Second, and this is huge and why it only got 4 stars. For your sanity, buy the SS "self tapping" screws that Amazon recommends with this product. The screws the manufacturer provides are SS, but not self tapping and almost impossible to work with if you have slanted aluminum drip edge like I do. I ran out of the self tapping and tried to finish my project with their provided screws, I quit after a couple. I ordered more and will wait to finish.
