*4 Year Update at end* I am a 60 y/o woman and I just installed 50' of these A-M 6" gutter guards on my 5.5" gutters (with no help from anyone), and the whole job took me about 3-4 hours. They were a perfect fit, although I had to bend the back of them in some places in order for them to seat properly (due to my gutters not being even). The length/side that goes against the drip edge was easy to bend just by hand, but the entire guard is sturdy, and seem to really strengthen the gutters as well once installed. The total length I needed was 50' and this box of 50' fit perfectly...they have about a 1" overlap cut into one end of each 4' piece, so adding in extra inches/feet to account for overlapping is not necessary (in other words, the 50' box covered 50' of gutter including an inch or so overlap on each piece). Last year I paid a few hundred dollars to have guards installed on my front gutters, and I just noticed what a terrible job was done when I had to get on a ladder for other reasons ( a different guard was used, but very similar to this product). I ended up removing every piece and reinstalling it properly, so I already knew what tools I'd need to install these guards on my back gutters. I found that using a scratch awl & hammer to help start the screws was necessary, mainly on the drip edge side of the guard which is not pre-punched/drilled (this would be my only complaint about this product. Having pre-drilled holes, or at least an indent, would have helped greatly and I'd have given a 5 star rating. There ARE pre-drilled holes every several inches on the side that lays on top of the outer edge of the gutter.). Aside from a scratch awl & hammer I also used good set of tin snips, cordless drill, an extension "thing" (don't know what it's called) to hold a 1/4" hex shank screwdriver bit and #8 x 9/16" socket hex drive sheet metal screws (in the future I'll replace these with stainless, but couldn't find any at this time). These worked perfectly on the gutter edge side, and for the most part on the drip edge side...in a few places I had to use a 1" long screw because nothing about my gutters seems to be even. Depending on your type of roof you may be able install these by just sliding one side under your shingles and then securing the 'outside' to the gutter edge, but this wouldn't work for me...i secured both sides with screws. You could probably get by with 4 screws per section, but I put more to ensure they lay flat - and we're in a hurricane area. Properly installed, I can't see how leaves could possibly enter the gutters, or any other object aside from perhaps roof grit or something very small. Leaves will build up somewhat on top of the guards, which seems to be the case with most of them, but they're easily brushed off. Having extensively researched gutter guards, none seem to be a perfect solution...but these were definitely the right price, easy to work with, fit my 5.5" gutters and are definitely sturdy. I wouldn't expect to have to remove them to clean whatever might make it's way into the gutters anytime soon, but time will tell. We have oak trees that drop leaves 24/7/365 and the similar guards that I have on the front of my house seem to have done a decent job keeping the leaves out even with the poor install that had been done...so I expect these guards to perform as well or better. Instructions in the box show how to miter the corners...easy to do, and easy to cut with tin snips. *Update: It's Dec. 2023 and I stand by everything I said about these leaf guards - even bumped my rating up a notch to 5 stars. We've had zero problems with leaves or anything else clogging our gutters. They've literally been maintenance free. I do have to clean leaves off of the top of them at the corners twice a year, but that has nothing to do with the guards. They have held up just fine & haven't rusted or had any other issues. One of the best items I have purchased from Amazon. These gutter guards are high quality and install easily and work very well. The aluminum is strong, not flimsy. I have a new metal roof and 6" gutters. I had previously tried the cheap plastic gutter guards that are sold at the home improvement chain store. They work just ok for shingle roofs, but do not fit at all "under" the metal roof. These from A-M work very well on a metal roof and install easily. I wish they offered them in dark brown, I had to paint mine prior to installation, but was not a big deal. Another plus to installing these is that they actually "slide" down the gutter, so if you have a difficult to reach spot and you cant get to the end of a gutter for example, I was able to place one of these on the gutter and then slide it down to the end without moving the ladder. They are a good product for the money. The pieces are lightweight, good quality, and easy to work with. These gutter guards are made for hidden gutter hangers so although they are supposed to work with K-style hangars the installation is not quite as simple. I watched all the YouTube videos on installation and read most of the reviews which stated how quick and easy the installation was. Something to consider if you have K-Style gutter hangers and your gutters are older. You may have to repair any dented or or damaged gutters first before installing these gutter guards. You should also look at your K-style hangers to make sure the gutter guards will lay correctly across your gutters or when you tighten them down they will be bent where the K-style hanger is. The installation maybe a bit trickier and take a little longer. Overall, a decent product and they finally got installed but I may have looked at other gutter guards that are made for K-style hanger supports. I think the installation may have been quicker and easier. We will see how they hold up and how easy to clean they are. ... show more

I had been looking at gutter guards for a year or so & came across these. They looked well designed and the price was pretty reasonable. Install was easy (One story home). They have been on the house for a full year and I peeked up there the other day and nothing except small grit from roof shingles. It is so nice not having to deal with leaves and maple helicopters. Wish I would have installed these 30 years ago. Would definately buy again if needed. My neighbor asked about them and now he ordered some also. Well worth the money !!! ... show more

I am extremely pleased with how well these gutter guards are keeping leaves out of my new gutters. The 6-inch gutters were installed in April but without a leaf guard. With the leafy trees on the property I knew these wide gutters were going to be leaf magnets and would overflow with leaves during November. I ordered a box of 200 feet of the A-M Gutter Guards based on some YouTube research and had them installed by a local roofing contractor. The contractor labor cost was the most expensive part of the project, but they cleanded out the gutters, installed the guards, and were finished in less than two hours. The cost of the professional installation was only $400. I chose the unpainted mill finish version rather than the painted ones, and from ground level you can't tell that the gutters have a guard installed. The attached picture shows all the leaves that have recently come down in my front yard, but there are no leaves on the roof or on the Gutter Guards due to the windy days we had recently. Without the guards, the gutters would be completely filled. We had moderate rainfall after the guards were installed and the guards did not appear to restrict the flow of water in any way. The installation could be easily done by a DIY homeowner, but the cost of having a professional do it is well worth the amount of time and effort you'll save. I highly recommend that you consider this product if need to keep leaves out of your gutters. ... show more

Bought these last year. Leaves blow off with wind, easy to put up and good video to watch. If you in a snow area hangers should be about 2 feet apart. This company also has hangers that are stronger and cheaper than Home Depot. Order their screw pack which comes with a 6 inch extension that has a magnetic socket on the end. Snow area use 4 screws in front 3 in back. They are a tight fit but you can bent the back lip a little with your fingers. Shipping good, no bends. Would order again. ... show more
