  • Perfect first printer!
Size: Adventurer 5M Pro
Love love love this 3D printer. It is a first for us, and is for my 22 year old. We are having a blast and so far, everything is easy and prints great! Easy filament change. I recently printed Hogwarts! Beautiful!

  • Buy with confidence, this thing works!
Size: Adventurer 5M
This 3D printer is amazing. Very fast, very accurate and reliable. Compared to my 4 year old Creality 10s printer, it is lightening fast. Makes beautiful prints with stock settings using their recommended slicer, Orca-Flashforge. Nice touch screen with graphic display of the print project you are picking which is really helpful if you have a lot of STL's on your USB drive. Cooling fan is very loud, be aware. No Micro SD card, USB thumb drive and Wifi only. ... show more

  • Worst brand ever - Avoid if you value your money/time
Size: Adventurer 5M
UPDATE: 2 Months later 2 months in and this is the worst printer I have owned. While the hardware itself is "fine" and works, the software/firmware have been a nightmare. The original software options barely functioned for remote monitoring and in the last couple of weeks they released Orca-FlashForge and FlashMaker. Problem with BOTH software is they were basically release as beta software and the remote functionality is broken. I spent 2 weeks with tech support and they have basically been useless. I've gotten better support from Comcast which says a lot. I also printed the official Flahsforge enclosure and bought acrylic panels for 50 bucks. Bought the camera for 25. Both parts being officially from Flashforge you would think they can work together but the camera cable was too short. Their supports response was it is indeed to short and I should source my own extension cable... My experience has been poor and I would never suggest this brand to anyone else. Avoid like the plague and spend you money elsewhere. Original: Wanted to wait a month before writing a review so I could fully use it and test. To those who don't want to read a novel. Its a good printer with LOTS of potential but as with most things you shouldn't buy on how good it "could" be. Out of the box the unit setup was quick and self explanatory. I last printer i purchased was the Creality K1 which had its own set of defects (which they fixed) so I was prepared for a hassle. Turns out everything was simple and I was printing within 30min. The issue begun happening after a few hours of printing. What everyone says about the included bed is true, its crap and you should get a replacement. I contacted Flashforge and they sent me their PEI bed right away when I mentioned the issue so anyone who purchases should be the same. With the bed issue resolved I can reliably get good quality prints. I use PLA and PETG with no issues and quality is equal to my K1 and just as fast. Any issues from are slicer or user error. Now for my real gripes starting with the software. The 5M uses Klipper which is awesome but its locked down and unless you super savvy there is no way to easily unlock its full potential. They have github page for the klipper but its useless for the average person. Next is the FlashPrint software, Its ok but very limited. Flashforge themselves suggests Orca slicer which is indeed great but then you cannot wirelessly sent prints and have to use a thumb drive. I tried using FlashCloud and Polar3d to remote monitor the printer and that also feels lacking in control and reliability. Creality Cloud despite all the spam is significantly better for remote management and control. I also purchased the Adventurer 5m camera direct from FlashForge. It took over a month to arrive and their communication TERRIBLE but I did end up getting it. While capturing time lapses is great, using it with FlashCloud or Polar 3D is terrible and again, remote management sucks. Lastly lets talk these hotends. Quick swap is great but 30 bucks per hotend is terrible. Luckily this is my secondary printer and I don't print abrasive materials but if you go through hotends regularly your wallet is going to cry. There is a lot of potential and promised updates. They CLAIM there will be full klipper support, OEM led lights, enclosure kits and more but they are radio silent as to when. I got time to wait and the ability to tinker on my own but if this is your first printer or you want something feature rich with no bugs, look elsewhere. My K1 with upgraded hotend/extruder has been reliable and I would highly recommend that over this (when its on sale) ... show more

  • Treat it as a "lower" speed machine, then everything works great.
Size: Adventurer 5M
I started 3d printing about 8 years ago. I have owned a few old-fashioned i3 printers and have been constantly upgrading them till the recent rise of the bambulab-like high-speed machines. I feel it is time to jump boat and give it a try, since a custom built voron will cost way more than the commercially available ones from established brands. I got this machine at a discounted price. On paper it has almost all the fancy features one would actually use, like core xy, high-speed, vibration compensation, fast release nozzle, magnetic PEI build plate ... I was pretty happy about the purchase. The printer arrived 2 days ago. The installation was easy. I have been testing intensively since then. And here is my initial impression: 1. The print quality is good...when everything works fine. 2. It can go really fast but the fail rate is pretty high, especially on tall prints with small bases. Even with their sample filament, sample file and their own glue applied, the prints frequently detach from the PEI build plate during printing and cause disasters. And yes, I did level the build plate and perform vibration compensation. Situation gets better at half of the recommended speed. I am gonna try some 3rd party build plate and see whether it helps. 3. Either the remote control program flashprint5 or the printer's firmware has bugs. After one task is finished or terminated halfway, the printer has a high chance of losing its position. When you start a new task, the extruder will go out of range and hit the frame on the right. You will see the out of range error on screen and hear dying sound of the poor timing belt. The program will ask you to home the extruder but don't allow you to by saying system busy doing previous task. BTW, i am already on the latest firmware. 4. Again about the software, unlike klipper, the user interface is only good for multimachine management, it is not very informative or even responsive. The attached manual is also kinda over simplified. I consider myself pretty experienced, but it still took me quite a while to figure out the UI. And yes, I can read both languages on the manual. In summary, the hardware has the potential to compete with best printers in the league, but there are quite a few "solvable" bugs. I am not going to return the machine, the build itself worth the price I paid. I am expecting an OTA maybe? To amuse fellow (potential) buyers, I am attaching a few of my good/died prints. Good luck printing. ... show more
