I don’t know about pain relief but emotionally it was soothing. I felt comfortable although my back still hurts. I can say I didn’t feel worse so it was worth $50.

Some major pros and major cons for this mattress topper. On the positive side, I can't believe what a huge improvement it is over the pillow top mattress I've had for years. Slapped this piece of foam on top and it's like sleeping on a cloud! My first night on this was the first time in forever I've woken up without achy, stiff shoulders and back. The foam seems like great quality - very dense, and you can watch it rise after pressing it down. It's got little air holes for ventilation as well. On the negative side...I roasted while sleeping on this thing. I'm not sure how, as it's supposed to sleep cool and even has those air holes, but it was bad. The first night (spent under my Molecule duvet), I got so hot and sweaty I bailed and headed for the couch in the middle of the night. The second night, I used a lighter comforter and was able to stay the whole night in my bed, though I still woke up in a light sweat. The topper itself, contrary to logic, seems to retain heat, although I'm wondering if all that sweating was more a reaction to the chemicals in the memory foam. I did let it air out for a few days before putting it on my bed, but there was still a faint smell. My plan is to let it air out for a month or so and try it again, to see if that makes a difference. A few other things I wasn't thrilled about: (1) This topper is a few inches longer and wider than my full size mattress, giving it a bit of an awkward shape, though the mattress cover and fitted sheet do help a little. (2) There's a dirty smudge on one of the bottom corners, though that too is covered up by the sheet. So, definitely good and bad with this thing. The quality is great, but my experience with it didn't meet my expectations. Would like to recommend but will wait for another trial run in a month or so. ... show more
