Outdoors, upright, in a shaded, well-ventilated spot away from heat, flames, and sparks, with the valve closed. Never store it indoors, in a garage or basement, or anywhere the temperature could top 120°F. Keep it out of reach of children. Can the tank be mounted upside down? No. This tank is built to be used, stored, and transported upright. Upright, the valve draws propane vapor from the top of the tank. Upside down or on its side, liquid propane can reach the valve and your appliance, which is unsafe. Can I carry it in my car? Yes. It’s DOT and Transport Canada certified for transport. Close the valve, keep the tank upright and secured, ventilate the vehicle, and go directly to your destination. Never leave it in a hot, parked car. Can I swap it at a tank exchange? Usually not. Most exchange programs only accept 20 lb tanks. Instead, refill it at a propane dealer, RV center, or hardware or farm store that offers refills. You keep your own tank and pay only for the propane you put in. Does it ever expire? The tank needs requalification, not replacement. In the US, a DOT tank must be requalified 12 years after the manufacture date stamped on its collar, then typically every 5 years. Stations won’t fill an out-of-date tank. Canadian rules may differ.
