These are simple dark stained faux wood frames for 5x7 pictures. I have a perfect use for them; they are great for me. I went (for the first time since I left in the last milennia) to a small reunion for people who were very dear to me when I was in graduate school (far away from where I live). It was a few days of sheer delight, and I dread reunions for all the reasons that people dread reunions times ten for all the reasons that people have therapists. However, this was the loveliest time with the dearest people, and lots of camera phones came out and lots of pictures were taken. So I thought as a nice way of saying what a great time I had, I'd take some of my pictures to the local drug store, print a set for everyone and the picture that I found most memorable with that person in the frame. It can easily be replaced if, as people do with pictures, they feel differently (or if in fact, they actually hate me - therapy). These are easy to wrap in bubble wrap and send for the recipient to do with as they please. These may or may not make it to a wall or desk (they have a folding mount and small hooks to hang either in portrait or profile orientation). This is not a fashion frame, but they are nice keepsakes for a moment you might want to share with someone as well and for under two bucks a frame they are great to have around for other memorialized events you might want to share. I'm very glad to have this for some simple gifting. They are also very lightweight for mailing -- do be sure to get your bubble wrap and you'll be fine.

The mat is much thicker than what is pictured. However, I read the description and it's accurate, it's just that the picture doesn't convey that. They are a little cheaper quality than expected but they'll work for what I'm using them for.

This is a set of 10 4X6 inch picture frames in black. They don't have a mat, so you just slip in the 4X6 pictures as is. They have plexiglass instead of real glass, so they are light and easier to put up than real glass. Not to mention they won't break. They are decent enough frames. They even all have easels on the back so you can set them up on a dresser or wherever you want to sit them. And they all have triangular pieces on the back that allow you to hang them up. There are two on each frame that allow you to hang them up either vertically or horizontally. They have what you call engineered wood for the frames painted black. I have no idea what that is. But I have had some of these before and they look and feel like wood. I didn't want to take these out of the plastic they were wrapped in yet until I actually begin my project. I plan on doing a collage with them. I am doing many different collages and need a lot of different picture frame colors and shapes for it. These will do fine. And you can't beat the price.
