This is a big improvement on the punching bag toys that I had when I was a kid (you'd punch them one time and poof, they'd be done). This punching bag is built more like a true speed bag, but kid sized. The base is sturdy, and my kids have enjoyed taking turns "training" with it for a couple weeks and it is holding up fine. We couldn't really get it to be sturdy enough for him to punch. Not sure if we failed to put it together well, but somehow it just didn't work for us and we ended up throwing it out.

My kids and I both like martial arts and this is a great tool for us to practice at home. It's very sturdy and fun! We basically could play with it at home every other weekend. A big exercise for the home gym!

This came shipped in a box that does reveal the contents, in case you’re ordering for a gift. It is very easy to assemble and the base filled with water seems to be plenty heavy for us (no need for sand). The height is adjustable and works well for both my 8 and 5 year old boys. The gloves are a little big for the 5 year old and too small for me. The spring is very flexible and has a lot of give, so if they punch it hard enough it does swing a good distance and comes back (I had to warn them to be careful of their faces).
