2019 Ram 1500 front camera only. My first dashcam and I wanted a neat and clean OEM look with simple wiring. The FITCAMX was exactly that. You simply replace the original rear view mirror housing with the new FITCAMX housing which looks almost exactly like the original with a slight extension which houses the camera. It looks like it came from the factory and the quality is just as good. Power for the camera comes from an included adapter harness which plugs inline with the mirror power wire. All plug and play, no cutting or splicing and no visible wiring. The RAM 1500 has a couple of different mirror housing covers depending on the model and the installation video was not exactly like mine but basically the housing and windshield trim piece just snap off and on. Easy to figure out and took me 20 minutes at most from start to finish, as I had reviewed the installation videos carefully beforehand. The free FITCAMX app that you can download will allow you to watch live video on your phone and review it later but it is not necessary to use the camera. The camera powers up automatically and starts recording when you start the car and powers off when the ignition is off. Video is stored automatically in a micro SD card which you can remove and play on your computer without needing an app. This is my first dashcam so I can't compare but I thought the video quality was excellent and the field of view was very good (170 degrees, I think). Like so many have said, this camera is great! The OEM’ish fit is marvelous - no cables, no muss, no fuss. Just works. Comes on when truck is started, and goes off when truck turned off. If you want the parking capability or GPS features, etc., you may need to shop other products. But for a forward facing (with optional rear) camera, it works great, and looks great. One star loss for installation. When I “popped” my OEM trim off, the whole mirror assembly came off with it! Getting that mirror back on was a bear. Once that was done, the ‘intended’ installation was complete in like 5 minutes. Great product, and highly recommended. ... show more

Install was a little tricky, took a few times to get it all snapped together. But it is worth it for the factory look, no one knows a dash camera is there. No having to run wires is a plus too. Video quality is pretty good, you can change the settings in the app for better quality, but chose to leave it the factory setting to make downloads easier. Starts recording when I start the truck, I don’t even think about it anymore. The app is alright, Initial setup was easy. I went back a few months to just check it is operating, and could not connect to the camera. I had to forget the WiFi address, and start over like it was the first time pairing with the camera, and it connected after a few tries. The camera records in 60 sec. intervals. For a 1 hour drive, you will have 60 clips saved. This is actually better, as it’s easier to find exact moments during a drive, and makes the downloaded file smaller. Love this cam for the most part. I had tried another brand camera and loved the quality but it was a strap on model and the camera was located mirror/left and a portion of the front facing image was obscured by the mirror mount so after some research, found the FitCam and it's mounted basically center/top of the windshield for a great view. It does have an OEM fit and feel. Plugs into your existing sensors in the windshield to power the cam while the engine is on but you will need a hardwire kit if you want to use the cam in "park mode" (for monitoring events while the engine is off). Even in 4k mode the image is not quite as clear as the examples on the listing but it's quite good. The rear camera is a bit less resolution and does pick up quite a bit of glare at night. If you're the type that likes to see the video display as you're driving, this cam will not be for you. It requires an app on your phone to get a live view. The app is pretty straightforward and easy to use but I did find that it would disconnect my CarPlay while the FitCam app was connected so I have the app on a second phone which does not connect to my CarPlay. I also notice the video feed in the app glitches often and the feed will be distorted. This does NOT affect the actual recording though. If you prefer, you can eject the microSD card and download to your computer to review footage (though again, you will need an app called VLC (free download) as the forward camera footage will not play in QuickTime). I ordered the model that has a rear facing cam as well...as mentioned above, the resolution is slightly less for this cam and it is an INTERIOR cam only (you cannot mount this cam on the exterior of your vehicle). I have mine mounted in the center of the rear window and had to purchase a 3rd party bracket to mount it because I have a sliding window there so it could not be attached directly to the glass. The rear camera rotates 360º which I needed to do because of mounting it to a bracket....rotating causes the image to reversed which means you will not want to use this camera in viewing mode while backing up as it's very disorienting. All in all, I'm happy with this cam as it met the priority points on my checklist. It was a little more expensive than the other brand I had ordered but worth the extra money just to have it mounted center of my windshield without the viewing area obscured by the mirror mount. It's a clean mount, no wires exposed. I upgraded to two 256gb cards and just swap them out once a week so I have a backup of the last several days of driving if needed. ... show more
