  • Incredible Guitar Kit For The Price!
I received this as a gift from a family member, actually member(s) for Christmas. For only $99 this is an incredible guitar kit. I was a tad nervous before it arrived because of the 2 reviews I read one of them was negative and the individual claimed that a different guitar model kit had arrived then the one detailed in the description. I wanted a Stratocaster kit like the product description stated and that’s what I got. I particularly like this kit because the body is basswood which is my favorite and the pick guard is pre-wired and the output jack and grounding wire are soderless connections which is easy and secure. I am 33 years old and have been playing guitar for 20 years now and doing my own setups and repairs on the various guitar models I have owned over the years so I’m quite familiar with how to do the work necessary to assemble and make the guitar set exactly to my liking. I assembled the guitar immediately out of the box using the strings it came with (they are the usual run of the mill cheap strings that come on/with cheap guitars so bear in mind you will want to buy a good set when the guitar is finished). I assembled it right away because I wanted to make sure I had everything included and that everything fit correctly BEFORE I started the painting process because there’s really no going back at that point. The guitar neck fit perfectly with the body. The neck was incredibly bowed which worried me but once I grabbed an Allen wrench and adjusted the truss rod (a lot) it straightened out just fine, no problem. The pickups sound very nice for cheap ceramic single coils so I will be keeping them as is for quite a while, I wanted a Strat and it sounds like a Strat. The frets were uneven in spots so I leveled the high spots, crowned and polished them. Lots of fret sprout on both sides so I had to rectify that as well. The wood was super dry. I’ve had to oil it down with typical Music Nomad fretboard cleaner but I’m gonna have to give it a heavy treatment of Mineral Spirits mixed with Boiled Linseed Oil to really condition this thing. I don’t have a bandsaw so I’m going to cut the headstock with a coping saw which according to the YouTube video should be quite easy. I’m gonna paint the body yellow as I think a yellow Strat with a dark fretboard will look quite unique. I have some spare parts I will use including Wilkinson locking tuners which fit perfectly and a Graphtech string tree for the B and high E strings (I don’t like a string tree for the D and G strings). I well that’s about it. If you’re like me and have some guitar building skills and would like a fun project to do in your spare time while also having a guitar at the end of it then this is an incredible value for the price. I’ll try to come back and post photos of the finished product. Thank you! ... show more

  • Great Value
This really is a great deal for what you get. Yes the hardware is cheap and the fretboard is just laminated poplar but the overall quality is great compared to other kits I have ordered in the past. I will buy again for sure

  • 3rd build
I like building these guitars I swap out the guts and put Seymour Duncan pick ups and different hardware but the body and necks are worth the 100 bucks I. Like the maple and rosewood or basswood I haven't used the synthetic neck yet but ya these guitars I made will go up against any guitar

  • Great Quality and a Fun Build
This is overall one of the best DIY guitar kits I've built. Everything (except the finish) is in the box. The neck, body, and pickguard assembly are all numbered unique to the kit, so they fit together perfectly. The seller emailed the instructions complete with a parts checklist (nothing was missing), and the video gives clear directions making assembly a breeze. I finished the basswood body with a couple of cans of off-the-shelf spray paint, rubbed it down with steel wool when it was almost finished curing, then used glossy wipe-on poly to finish it off. Pretty simple, pretty easy, just something to be patient with and not rush. Fairly easy to shape the maple headstock with a Dremel. I applied an oil finish to the headstock and neck, then used a lemon oil treatment on the dyed poplar fingerboard just like I would a rosewood fingerboard. Looks great. The neck was near perfect, I didn't even have to adjust the truss rod. Absolutely no sharp fret ends, I just carefully polished them with steel wool to make them shine. Before securing the neck, I ran kite string through the bridge and nut to check the alignment of both the neck and the pickups - again, near perfect. No soldering was required, the pickguard is pre-wired, and both the jack plate and tremolo ground have push-in connectors. I always take my time, check and double-check everything, and after the finishes on the body and neck were complete the entire process took less than an afternoon. After setup, intonation is spot-on. There are no dead frets and there is no fret buzz. These single-coil pickups sound great, and the wiring scheme with a 5-way switch, 1 volume, and 2 tone controls is identical to a standard Strat. I left mine stock as purchased, but modification should be pretty easy if desired. I would recommend this kit to anyone, whether just starting out or a seasoned builder. Quality like this was refreshing at this price point. ... show more

  • Great Quality for Price | Durable Canvas
Product arrived on time as expected. Packaged in clear wrap and other protective wrap, the seller went above and beyond to ensure the guitar and each piece arrived in tact. This product works as designed and I recommend it to others looking to dive into the DIY guitar space.
