Great little Axe
Style: 13" Hiking Axe
Small and lightweight, perfect for camping. Arrived nowhere near sharp, however, it sharpened so easily that in my experience, it means soft steel that dulls quickly. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as it will resharpen easily. Bring a small sharpening stone with you or it will soon become useless. Really amazing how easy it is to sharpen. Great buy. ... show more

Handy little hatchet!
Style: 13" Hiking Axe
Purchased for camping. Very nice little hatchet. Ultralight, but still has that Fiskars durability. Super sharp! Good value. I was resigned to sticking to just having a good full-sized bushcraft knife and a light pack saw in the trail, but this little guy is so small, light and useful, I'm adding it to my backpacking kit. Yes, it's a bit more weight, but having a small hatchet with a flat head I can use to clear small shoots from small trees and larger branches and pound tent stakes with, is handy enough to just throw it in with the knife and saw. ... show more

Exactly as advertised
Style: 13" Hiking Axe
Exactly what you expect. Lightweight for portability makes it great for car camping. Does the job. The plastic guard is excellent and stays on firmly. Well designed back for driving stakes. Not for heavy duty use (you would want something heavier for that) but exactly what you want for easy portability. ... show more

Light, okay sharp very functional camp axe.
Style: 13" Hiking Axe
Good: *Very lightweight *The integrated cover either hole in hatchet head that secures cover is nifty and does not in any manner detract from performance but does remove precious ounces when reducing weight. *Sharp enough and can be sharpened even better for really good performance. 'Out of box' it was so-so but I sharpened it much better and it is excellent. Took time but its worth it. Minor Gripes *The injection molding is not smooth. I found rough sharp spots around the head of the axe where the orange plastic wraps around to secure it to the handle. I sanded it down smooth with ultra fine sand paper. This way it doesn't cause me issues in case I choke up to feather branches, etc. *Fact it ships not very sharp is disappointing. Mind you it's not dull per se but it's definitely noticeably not sharp... you press it into even soft pine and you feel the pressure not a 'cut' ... show more

Great lightweight and compact camping hatchet
Style: 13" Hiking Axe
Great hatchet for the price. It is lightweight, compact, and very easy to pack for hikes and camping trips. Works great for making kindling and driving tent stakes. The build quality is solid, and the blade came sharp right out of the box. Definitely a great value for the money, completely satisfied with the purchase. ... show more

Great value and functionality. Light weight.
Style: 13" Hiking Axe
For a light hatchet for limbing that you carry into the woods (in my case canoe trips) this is good. If you need to split substantial rounds, not so much. But for smaller rounds 4-6 inches cut in short lengths and with a good surface to split on this has a lot of power for its weight and cost. Yes a wildlife hatchet is better, but it's also 4 times the price. ... show more

Handy little hatchet. I like it.
Style: 13" Hiking Axe
Decent little backpacking hatchet. At 1 lb and 13" there are probably lighter options if/when counting ounces for ultra-light backpacking, but I wanted a "real" hatchet with a solid hammer on the backside for driving tent stakes in rocky-ish terrain. It worked well for chopping kindling/firewood, and driving stakes... and small enough that it wasn't in the way, but also not too small to be useful. ... show more

Typical Fiskers well thought out quality toughness!
Style: 13" Hiking Axe
I never ever give 5 stars! Even for most products that deserve it simply because there’s always room for a product to be improved. I caved and gave 5 for this though. I admit I’m a Fiskers diehard but only because I’ve never had a bad experience with their equipment and this is no different. It’s super lightweight, not to bulky but not too small and holds its edge very well so far (I camp a lot). It great for busting up deadwood or fallen trees for firewood and will work great on live trees as well though I would want an axe for a large tree. I’ve used it to dig trenches around tents as well as the back of it to hammer pegs etc. very handy and solid but like I mentioned, super lightweight!! ... show more
