Got this for a 60in 100g tank. Gives excellent coverage with full spectrum output. The remote control is one of the things I like and dislike the most. First, it offers a wide variety of controls and programmable settings to suit any custom setup. Even with all the complex functions, it still has some straight forward functions to keep it from being a pain. But still allows you to create some complex and varied programs. As for the negatives regarding the remote functions. Well at first I was pointing the remote at the wired end, as I figured that is where the remote sensor would be. Nope, it's at the non wired end. Which when I thought about it made sense. This is the side you want to face out, so by having the remote sensor there makes better sense. The reviews that complain about the remote not working, or working sometimes, probably haven't figured out what end contains the remote sensor. Because that was what happened to me, until I realized I was simply pointing it at the wrong end. My final nit pick is that it only offers remote operation of the varied settings. No controller in line or on the light. So if you lose the remote, or the remote stops working, you won't be able to change any settings. However, it does default to turning on when power is disconnected and it's first plugged in. So you will be able to turn it on and off without the remote, but you won't have any of the more advanced functions available without the remote. For me, this is a big issue. So for that, I am removing 1 star for otherwise a 5 star light. Considering it's competitive price, that one issue keeps it from being the perfect light. ... show more

Picked this up for growing coral in my Salt water tank. Gives me the ability to isolate different wave lengths for ideal conditions. Still learning what's best for my tank but the customization is perfect for trying different types of light. Received a damaged light on the first first shipment but was immediately shipped a replacement that arrived arrived a day later. This light is very long and comes with a bracket that gives you about an extra 6-8" more than the length of the light. Comes with a remote control which makes customizing wave lengths, brightness and timer functions very easy. Overall, i highly recommend this light for its value, customization, warranty and asthetics. Frame is mostly aluminum which aids in the heat dissipation you get when using IR and UV waves. ... show more

The included remote is finicky and seems to only work when you point it at the side of the light. Don’t know where the IR emitter is but poor design. Otherwise the light works great for my 14 gallon freshwater Aqueon tank. The light is expandable so it can easily adapt and fit wider tanks. Title says it all. Was turned off for the night, started flashing itself on and off over the course of the night, failed in the morning while attempting to understand why. In-line cable break seems to be the point of failure despite being behind the tank/stand and after having NOT been tripped over or otherwise deployed (as a cable break). I picked up 5 total. Two the length larger, this one, and one of each of the next two sizes down. This is so disappointing, I’ll not be buying another and will slowly be phasing them out as they’re replaced with better quality products. ... show more

I did buy this light with the hopes that it would fit my 10 gallon tank which measures 20 inches long since the smallest light will only suit up to 19 inches. I am glad I did because even though the brackets don't fit the edge of the tank I can still use it because the light itself rests on the black molding on my tank. The brackets hang off the edge but at least I didn't order the 19 inch model and find it unusable. Either way I am not holding it against Fishkeeper, they did specify that it was designed for (at smallest) a 22 inch long aquarium. I will say, however I think that it's weird that they would make lights in the dimensions they have chosen. A standard 5 gallon is 16 inches long, a 10 gallon is 20 inches, and a 20 gallon is 24 inches long unless you get a "long" then its 30 inches. They seem to have forgotten that people buy 10 gallon aquariums but that is their business. SO if you have a 10 gallon aquarium you're only going to be able to use this lamp if you don't mind the light resting on the edges of your aquarium. If you do mind fishkeeper doesn't even make a light that will fit a 10 gallon tank!? Bummer. Either way this is a great light when it comes to manufacturing and tech. The model is plastic edging with aluminum body which makes it rigid and tough as compared to the all plastic pieces I have bought in the past. PROS -Great selection of lighting modes... I have personally set over 20 different lighting modes and the low light settings are SUPERB.. especially if you're having algae growth issues like me you can basically set the lamp to a very VERY dim state in a really cool blue color which will allow you to achieve the black out state to kill algae. -wireless infra-red remote - there is a sensor on the end of the lamp for the remote. So many settings. Power, light intensity, RGB gamma settings so you can achieve a variety of colors you don't see or want a particular spectrum. It also has 3 memory buttons for saving your light settings. -great build quality -long cable -sufficient power supply Cons -I noticed exposed wires between the wire sheathe and where the wires enter the lamp housing, not sure if this is a one off defect or if all the lamps will be like this. If it is the way its manufactured this gap can allow for water to enter the housing and will cause corrosion on the main board and soldering connections. I'm going to fill mine with some hot glue to satisfy this error as I am a Vine tester and cannot replace the item. -24/7 lighting mode... still not a timer. A lot of these manufacturers put in a 24/7 lighting mode (like this model) that simulates a day night cycle... you cannot adjust any of the settings when using this mode. -does not fit 10 gallon (personal displeasure) but will fit a 20 gallon. There is no 10 gallon aquarium variant. Overall I would say that this is a good budget light for a beginner or intermediate. I will give the light itself a 10 out of 10 but a 3 out of 10 for forgetting to make a light for a 10 gallon aquarium. No point loss on stars because they don't claim to make a 10 gallon aquarium light. Actually in my opinion this is probably the best budget light I have tested for Amazon all in all.
