I strength test all of my leaders, and in this case I am glad that I did. These leaders are rated for 40lbs and it’s my personal conviction that half of any rating is an acceptable amount since this is roughly where you’re drag should be set. For example, if these 40lbs leaders held up to 20lbs I would be happy with the purchase because my drag would have been set to 15lbs-20lbs. Unfortunately the swivels gave out at 15.2 lbs. As you can see in the photo, the swivel catastrophically failed. I will salvage the leader wire itself because the wire is coated, but the clips and swivels I will change out for something that is both saltwater friendly and appropriately rated for weight. ... show more
