These smoke alarms are great. I bought them to replace the 10 year old SMI100-AC and they were delivered to me overnight the next morning. They were so compatible they actually fit into the same as the old one. Freed the battery, plugged in AC and twisted into place. I was tired of being prompted to change 9 volt batteries every 6 months or so in the middle of the night. These replacements have 10 year batteries built-in, so that should not be a problem. My only complaint is against the product picker at the Amazon warehouse. I had ordered 3 of these and one of them was a basic SMI100. It requires a battery and doesn't connect to power. I promptly returned it and ordered another one that should come tomorrow morning. ... show more

Is your old smoke alarm triple-beeping at 3AM? That means it's time to replace it. (A single beep means it is time to replace the battery.) If you have a connected fire alarm system with First Alert smoke detectors with the 3-pin connector, this is the best replacement. The battery is non-removable and lasts until you need to replace the detector, which is every 10 years. No more replacing batteries at 3AM because they seem to know the worst time to start beeping... just replace the entire detector. ... show more

I purchased these to replace older ones of the same brand. What I really like is that they come with 10 year batteries. They also check for carbon monoxide. I have these connected together so if one alarms they all do. A good investment for home security.
