I've been trying out a lot of window cling films, both ones that refract and ones that reflect or tint the window. I have a lot of panes in my home and am going with different films depending on window direction, location, and upper/lower level. This product has a lack of reviews, which might be causing people to overlook a great film. The material is easy to work with compared to some others. It great to work with as they seem to have selected the most balanced thickness of material. The tiny grid lines are thin and smooth and slice nicely, plus visually helps you to keep things straight; it also won't easily stretch and leave you with a wobbly-looking grid pattern like a CRT television with geometry issues (if you have no idea what that looks like, do an image search for: geometry issues crt). Several films create beautiful colors shining through, but the better the color shine, the less they really minimize the sun or keep the home's interior obscured from view. The obvious winner for privacy during the day is tint, which comes in various colors and has no patterns to worry about aligning. Though I find the tint film is the thinnest, most fragile kind! Do not use a hard plastic card even with lubrication or it scratches like crazy, plus just removing the clear backing liner can crease it all over. My windows are over two decades old and have condensation stains between the panes which doesn't look much better post-tint. A huge con is the tint has the opposite effect at night, being more reflective of your indoor lights and then becoming just a dimmer-looking but transparent window pane at night when seen from outside. On the other end of extremes, some of these films entirely eliminate any transparency, which is rarely the best option as your window stops being a window. This one, however, seems to be one of the few middle ground options around where day or night, it obscures just enough that you can still make out shapes and colors looking through it, but nobody is going to accidentally see much of anything. At night it also tends to have the most vibrant rainbow effect when light sources shine in from outdoors. I tried a "frosted" option which was truly opaque, but this is more the frosted glass you may want if you're not using this for something like a glass office wall. When the sun shines through the frosted film, it's still blindingly bright, despite you losing all visibility to the outside. This one keeps your window a window and the small square pattern really goes with anything. And if you are like me with some un-cleanable old windows, this will work wonders. ... show more

I rent and live in a bery old, very small 2bdrm, 1bth house that was built in 1932 and nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It has all the original single pane wood framed windows that let in the heat and the cold whichever one im trying to keep out they oet in. So after 4 years of high utility bills i found this window film and thought id give it a shot. I put it on this summer and to ky surprise it works great at reducing the amount of heat that would come thru bedroom windows in the late afternoon hot sun! Before i put this on the windows it would be too hot in the bedroom at night without putting a window ac in to help cool it down, after adding the film to it i no longer needed the ac to keep it comfortable throughout the summer. It truly works at reducing the heat coming thru that window, reducing my electric bill a lot. Even the winter so far has been better at keeping some cold out as well. It is extremely hard to apply to window. I'm not sure if it's because it came rolled up or if it's because I'm used to static cling but it was hard to measure it out and properly apply it to the window. Also, I didn't know which direction it should have been applied to the window for the one way privacy view. The directions wasn't clear on that. Would have been great if it came with a clear gridline backing film for easy measurement. Would not recommend. ... show more

First and foremost you can do this. Im very handy but a less handy person could do this. Tools. 1. Sharp box cutter with fresh blade, very important. 2. Spray bottle, or have a spray fabuloso bottle u can empty temporarily.. 3 .squeegee. I used this product for a sliding glass door that is facing a very bright rising sun every morning, and its adjacent to a living room TV. The suns glare off the tv is unbearable and almost led to me getting some sort of shades and sacrificing my view. So I can across this product. Now, a sliding glass door has two big window pans, so I got to try twice. This project is like a cross of putting on a protective glass screen on your phone and placing a m flexible plastic screen on ur smart watch. Its like the phone screen because if you dont do. Good enough job cleaning ur window and leave dirt/dust, it will affect the quality of your final product. First window did good job cleaning, lots of dust. 2nd window, did great job cleaning slighting less dust. Almost makes me want to use sticky tape to repose all the dust. The dust results in little bubbles u cant get rid off. Anyways before place make sure to cut to shape, not perfectly, but give yourself an inch on all sides. Next make sure to use lost of of soapy water on the glass and on the film before using a squeegee, this squeegee part is what is similar to placing protecting covering on a watch. If ur not perfect you can lift off a little bit and retry. Another important protip, before you start trimming off the excess, make sure ur exacto knife blade is brand new, so ur cuts are quick/easy/consistent. Goodluck. Oh, and the pictures are accurate, you cant see in during the day time and its ugly. But u can see out….thru the dust. ... show more
