This is exactly what I was looking for to keep my important documents safe! The pouch is the perfect size for holding smaller items, like our social security cards. I like that it came with two keys so my husband and I could each put one on our key rings. I did notice that mine popped off my key ring the other day; not sure what that was about, but thankfully I saw it right away and was able to put it back on. The metal feels thick and sturdy, but the box is surprisingly lightweight. It’s big enough to easily store 8x12” documents but small enough to easily store without taking up much space. A nicely constructed box to store important papers. The interior dimensions are 11.75" x 9.625" x 3.75". So, it is large enough to easily hold 8"x11" documents flat, even if they are in an close-fitting envelope or folder. The lock works well but you can't remove the key unless the lock is in the secured position. This is a minor annoyance but probably a good safety idea overall. Obviously this will not replace a bolted-down safe since it can be carried away easily and opened elsewhere. This box alone will not be fireproof. Three of the walls are about 3/8" thick, so look to provide decent insulation, but the lid is noticeably thinner and will be the weak spot. And, when locked, the lid does move a bit providing a gap for possible heat intrusion. However, when paired with the included 'security fireproof bag', you should get a little extra fire protection. But, there are a few concerns with the bag. I have a few other document bags that are better constructed and feel more robust. This bag has thin walls and there is no flap to protect the zipper, so the zipper will be the weak spot with this bag. And, the outer covering of this bag is silicon coated but it is done in such a way to few greasy. I'm just not impressed with the included bag. It will work but it could've been done so much better. I would pair this box with a different (better, up to 5200 degrees) bag on the inside for maximum fire protection. However, this box does provide a sturdy, reasonably secure way to store semi-important documents that is also easily transportable and can provide some fire resistance. I like the overall quality and, as long as you are aware of the obvious limitations, I think that it will work great for certain applications. ... show more

I've always had my important papers in a manilla envelope in my top drawer. As I get older, I realize that if there was a fire that I'd be devastated. But even more so if I had to replace all my important papers. Do be aware that I'm not sure about their claim that the box is fireproof. There's no seal between the lid and the body of the box, so I imagine that fire/smoke could easily enter the box. Also, in the case of a big fire, water would definitely be introduced to the box if it was sprayed directly. I am more confident in the fireproof nature of the document bag inside, so all of my documents are able to fit there. Some other valuables can fit in the box itself and I feel more secure than I did before. I recommend this product. ... show more

I would not trust this in a fire. The lid is too loose and the walls are not welded together or missing insulation? On mine, if you open it and squeeze a bit on the top of the walls, most of them have a lot of give where some parts don't move. This type of inconsistency doesn't give me confidence. Simple easy to use locked document box. As someone who often has a significant amount of cash tips in the house I’ve wanted something like this for a while. I don’t love that the description says both fireproof and fire resistant. I suppose if it’s fire proof it’s also technically fire resistant but it doesn’t go both ways so which is it?! I guess one would have to be a part of a tragedy or be up for some experimentation in their fireplace/fire pit to put this to the test. To me it doesn’t seem like the lid closes super securely onto the body of the box. As in, there is a tiny amount of space between the lip of the lid and the box itself. But I’m no fireproof box expert. I’m just glad to have a locked box. However on that note, if you actually had someone breaking into your house, this may be a worse bet than just hiding your valuables. It’s like a shining beacon saying TAKE ME I’M FULL OF GOODIES!!!! I can’t imagine it would be at all difficult to break into this thing key or no key. Anyone with some tools could probably jimmy it open without much trouble if they really wanted to. This fireproof box feels very well made. It's pretty hefty. It's easy to use and comes with a nice fireproof bag for important things you want to protect. This case doesn't look or feel much different than any other fireproof box I've ever seen or owned. I'm Definitely glad I chose to order this and at this price, I might actually order another one.
