Tried using 2 different starters out of box. Noticed several things. They are NOT consistent in size (length or width). They took longer to catch on fire then the other brand, but yes they did light and work for my charcoal chimney starter. But as I start to separate them Into containers I noticed that the box has LOTS OF SEPARATION of the material. Also found small pieces of raw wood.have no patience to count if there is actually 400 pieces in box. I will never be able to use all of the box for bbq. My intention was/is to give some away. I was having a lot of trouble getting charcoals lit with lighter fluid and newspaper. It was taking me way too long to get the coals lit. I bought a pack of these and they worked perfect. No lighter fluid needed. Just put them under the chimney, light them, and come back in 15 mins! I definitely recommend them. ... show more

I'm not paid to review this. It's October 14th 2022. I tested out 3 (the photos are the last 2). Both of them lasted between 4mins and 6mins which ur your making a fire, this is ample time to grt dry items burning. I pit 4 stars because they said TWICE in product information it burns up to 10mins and all 3 of mine tested it wasn't even close. It does burn quickly which is great and does its job well. So worth buying in my opinion. Just don't like when they lie in the information ... show more

The review asks to rate the “flavor”. I admit I didn’t taste it but my instinct tells me it’s probably a little like Weetabix. However as a fire starter it really does the job. It takes a couple seconds to light, but keeps going strong for more than enough time to get the kindling going. So far I’ve got a perfect record of getting the wood stove lit with a single match using this and one handful of kindling. All in all very happy with it. ... show more

I bought these after having less than optimal results with the sawdust and wax cubes. They worked better than the cubes and I need no lighter fluid to get a great bed of coals in my grill in minutes. I use lump charcoal in a komado grill and am extremely pleased with this purchase.
