This is so slow. As I was setting it up I thought once the updates were done and things were downloaded it would be ok, but I gave it to my 5 and 7yo yesterday and it crashed every 5mins trying to play a simple game. It restarted itself multiple times and I mostly heard complaints that it wasn’t working. This thing tests my patience but my kids have never experienced anything so slow so it’s really not a winner for them. We bought it to replace an original iPad 3 from 2012 that isn’t supported well anymore and I THOUGHT was getting too slow, but it works way better than this new one. Very sad about the speed of this device. I know as a while we are all a little Impatient with things but this tablet seriously takes the cake. The ability to download apps for the kids is poor. You’ve got to go through way to much to do so and the Home Screen for the kids is a joke. The parental controls are severely tight which I thought would be great but not so much since we can’t download even duo lingo abc for her on it or half the paid apps I have for her on my Phone. And the apps we could took 2 days to Download. I would just find another tablet till Amazon starts recognizing the poor design and parental concerns I’ve heard via Amazon, Walmart and target consumers of this item. ... show more

It’s slow, always crashes, freezes up, touch screen is off. Definitely not what you’d expect from a tablet in 2021, seems like one would’ve worked 10 years ago

So far, so good. Mainly purchased this for longer car rides, so I am not intending it to be used daily. It’s branded for ages 6+ and since my son is at the bottom age range of this, it does seem like he wouldn’t be able to use it without my help, just yet. However I like that he can “grow into it” which is why we chose this versus the original fire tablet which is for ages 3-7. The bumper is great and so is the two year worry free protection. That was one of the main reasons I purchased this instead of an iPad since kids are always dropping and breaking things. I’m hoping it has enough storage (the one we got is the basic version) but only time will tell. Seven inch size is plenty big. I love that it is large enough for my 6 y/o to hold comfortably but not so large that it is cumbersome. It was easy to transfer all the apps and games from the old fire tablet and set controls. This one also has the case that is alot sturdier and he loves the stand! I did not like that the first tablet I got overheated after 15-30 minutes of use and would go to a black screen/go to the Amazon Kids loading screen at random. I used the customer service messaging to report this and was told I could return the tablet for a new one. Thankfully I did and the replacement is working great! My 6 year old was so happy to have his new tablet. Somehow while 'hugging' it he opened or closed the built-in stand and it pinched the flesh on his chest. The bruise is about an inch long and 1/4" wide. It started out red, turned purplish in the time it took me to calm him and sit down here, and will likely be dark by morning. It's right by his <nixxle> so I'll wait until he's sleeping to take a good picture I can crop. Probably a one in a million or more occurrence, but definitely NOT for children under six no matter what, as suggested. As far as the "Pro", I haven't had time to set it up for filtering or to explore the other Pro feature. The protective case is definitely "cooler" than the little kid cases, and he's experienced enough (14th (?) fire tablet between 2 kids) to be responsible for the 2 year guarantee (not the first of those). Anyway, I let my boys play rough and tumble but I didn't expect my youngest to scream out in pain and throw down his new tablet before I even turned it on. After calming him (he's tough and resilient) he said he hated it and didn't want to touch it, ever. A few minutes of big brother holding it fixed that, but still... Caveat Emptor ... show more

I was not so sure about these things as my daughters gave had multiple but not this brand. This thing is sturdy with the bumper on it. Plus the worry free guarantee is amazing.
