Don’t stay tight and if you not watching your stuff can come off and fly across your shop. Cheap tight tools

  • DANGEROUS!
Style: 4 jaw
I've worked with lathe for over 50 years and know how they operate. I thought I'd buy a smaller 4 jaw chuck for smaller, lighter projects. Due to the poor quality of machining and consequential loose tolerances, the chuck will not hold a project tight during turning. As a result, the first piece I turned was a small piece 2" X 3.5" and after I removed the tailstock to complete a minor amounting scooping, the chuck spit the piece and it flew by my head missing me by an inch. I wear a face shield and jacket so the chances of an injury were small but still, this is a dangerous piece of equipment. You could use it with a tail stock live center but not just by itself. I'm returning this to Amazon with a thorough explanation. USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! ... show more
