I put up my window film the other day…and it seems to still be in place. I followed the directions provided as best I could, with exception to placing the peel back on the window as I removed air bubbles. I found it difficult to see what I was doing, so I just left out that step. However, I did cover my card in a lens cloth to protect the surface. You might want to figure this out yourself. My windows were exactly the width of my material. I over cut and trimmed as required. I found the trimming a bit difficult, but the wet barrier allowed for adjustment before trimming. I live in a very old house with wonky window glazing anyway. But I’m not sorry with the results. It’s a decent sized window and I did get a few pieces of lint between the glass and film. I’d say, it’s more noticeable from outside than in… easy enough for me to ignore. I cleaned off a years worth of cat nose smudges before application…so ya, I can live with it. Weird, as I’m a frame straightener. I chose the film range rated for indoor plants. I live in the PNW and definitely feel this is my best option even if it does feel a bit like a cloudy day. I get morning and evening sun that really heats up the house in the summer. Normally in summer, I cannot open my blinds before noon, so cloudy day film seems a better option than curtains for me…and the plants. Very happy I didn’t go with the darkest film. No air conditioning! I’ll see how this goes. I’ve also decided to film all the small window panes in my sunroom, the room normally gets too hot to use in summer, unless your a cactus. I felt like it was pretty easy to film the first window with, about 95% success, so I could do more windows. If your an average joe you can properly affix the film. Follow the directions. If i want absolute perfection I think I could have pulled the film, rinse, and gave it another go. Paying a professional is also an option. Prepare your window. I scraped as well as cleaned the glass and frames. A note: use plenty of water. It’s easy enough to card and release air and water pockets. Take care of film barrier plastic separation. If your tint film creases just a little it will stay. Set up a best lint free place to separate film. I did not and got some spots. Maybe, get a second set of hands so the film never has to touch another surface while working. Understand your standards and what you can live with. My window isn’t perfect, but it’s also not too shabby. If you cannot handle too shabby…

I’m pretty happy with this film now that it’s been up for a week. I purchased the silver/black. My main purpose was to make it so no one could see in my house during the day after my inbred, white trash neighbors broke into my house. I was pleasantly surprised with the heat blocking effect it had during the day. Before my purchase, I was concerned about it looking strange with the outer mirror effect but, you can’t even tell unless you stand in front of the window and see your own reflection. The installation was super annoying for me because I’ve never tinted any window before. Plus, I had no help bc my husband’s backside is attached to the bed lol Because of his absolute laziness when it comes to all work home-related, I’ve become fairly handy when it comes to new tasks like this. However, I’m definitly not saying it’s not tedious as hell. The directions tell you to remove the protective film from the mirror side, apply the film to the window and then reapply the protective film to the back before smoothing it on to avoid scratches. This is a major design flaw to me. The protective film isn’t smooth and has this tacky, “grabby” surface that makes it difficult to use anything to smooth on the window film and get out the bubbles. So, there will be scratches on your film. Personally I found no way to avoid this. I even bought a tinting kit that had the scrapers that you apply felt or suede to and used an entire spray bottle of water to no avail. I’ve gotten over the scratches for the most part but honestly-deep down in my nit-picky, subconscious heart it does slightly bother me. After I thought I had smoothed out all the bubbles, I could see this blue haze under the film. This is water and will go away over a few days. The film from the inside during the day gives a slight blurring, mosaic effect. The tint dims my house kind of like a pair of cheap black, sunglasses from a gas station. Light kind of looks like it’s a gray day outside. And at night it’s creepy bc you can’t see out unless you’re very close to the window. It looks like a black piece of plexi glass and with lights on you can see your reflection better than you can see outside. And yes, you can see from the outside in at night. Would I do this again? Right now I would say yes. My neighbors broke in during the day and they obviously cased my house during the day. I feel like the crackheads would’ve probably been more chicken to break in if they couldn’t have seen in at all. But that’s my thinking- I’m not some thieving drug addict, though. Having this film gave me the confidence to open my curtains again during the day and feel some kind of normalcy after having my home’s sanctity violated. Will I leave this up during the winter? Probably not. It’s summer right now so it’s bright out, in the south so we’re averaging 90 degrees out per day so the film is helpful for temperature. In winter, it’s darker quicker so the tint may make it too dark in my house. Plus, the scratches- yes, I’m still thinking about that lol And I’m not sure if I’ll be able to overlook them forever. They’re not horrible but, when the light hits them just right it grates my perfection nerves. I probably will take it down when I feel completely at ease again. My neighbors moved out 3 days after they broke in and I confronted them. I also walked the whole neighborhood and told all my neighbors that they were casing the neighborhood during the day while most people were at work. I had the police driving through the neighborhood constantly and they even parked in my driveway sometimes. That helped them decide that they needed to move ASAP and that their break-in and drug gig was up in our quiet little neighborhood. I say all of this for the other victims out there looking for comfort after a break-in. This window film really did aid in helping me feel comfortable in and away from my home again. So, in my opinion, totally worth the money and headache of hanging..and scratches.. Definitely shell out the extra $13 for a tinting kit because this film doesn’t offer any applicators.

Works well to block clear visibility into my bedroom patio doors. Adheres well to glass. Easiest to install with two people. This is not privacy for nighttime as that’s not how light and sight work. You will still need coverage for when the light inside is brighter than outside. If you don’t want people to see in at night, you won’t be able to see out.
