To be honest, I had a really poor first impression of this product. The low end was very exaggerated, and being in a Rock mood at the time, it didn't sound as good as my other IEMs with the Rock music I was listening to. Due to having less contrast or sharpness. For reference, the other IEMs better for Rock were the OH10 and the Blon BL-03. However I'm glad to say that over time I've grown to love them. The sound is still a bit too low-end heavy for me, but I've adapted to the signature and it's very relaxing to listen to. I can listen to them all day whilst working and not feel fatigued at all. On the other hand if I try doing that with any of my other IEMs, I get fatigued either physically or hearing-wise after a few hours. So I'd say that if you're looking for a good all-rounder, something really really comfortable (I'd say they're my most comfortable pair), not fatiguing, but still very immersive and fast, then go for these. The sound is a bit different to a Dynamic driver IEM, but I've gotten used to them and I like the sound that the armatures bring. I'd assume that with a dynamic driver these'd probably have been awful due to such a heavy low end. But because they're armatures, they don't muddy up the sound as much. If you're looking for neutrality, or detail monsters, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. If you only listen to Rock, I'd also suggest looking elsewhere. But if you listen to a variety of music, and don't mind an all-rounder as opposed to something that stands out only in sound quality and with certain types of music, these strike a good balance between being "safe" and non-sibilant but still being well built and enjoyable to listen to. They won't blow you away, but they're so hard to not come back to when you want to listen for long periods. Oh and they look really rad, they're my best looking IEMs I'd say, having the silver version.

So Fiio I’m pretty sure have the best whole entire kits that come with there IEMs, they always come with so many different types of eartips, from many pairs of normal silicone tips, to couple pairs of memory foam, to even a pair of the double flange tips. Also you get Fiios kind of patented waterproof case that is amazing, but inside that comes this soft little zipper pouch. The ear pieces are really pretty nice, they fit is great, they have great passive isolation, the one thing I noticed I didn’t like was if you use the silicone tips I would get that weird imbalanced pressure feeling in your ears where it kinda hurts, but memory foam I don’t get that at all. I had never tried an all BA driver IEM before, but I would say the sound is pretty close to what a normal dynamic driver sounds like just the bass is pretty noticeably not the same, it’s not as deep, doesn’t hit as hard. But don’t get me wrong these are definitely have a dynamic sound, it’s very clear, never got harsh. Bass is obviously boosted, with mids being a bit recessed, and then elevated highs, so pretty much your typical V shaped sound signature.

Fit, finish and the quality components used in the FA7's are what drew me to this purchase! The Knowles components found in this IEM are those found in other models costing 1 to 2 times as much. When hooked up to an iPhone the sound is good but I also wanted to hear the difference when using a portable DAC/Amplifier (not that you really need them for top end amplification/sound volume was adequate for myself). Fiio Q1: Sound was measurably clearer with only a slight increase in top end amplification. What you are able to achieve is a fair amount of high gain and a cleaner, more polished mid to high frequency. As mentioned in other reviews, the mid-bass on these IEM's can be a bit strong. Not to the point of washing out the mids, just walking in-front of them. If you want a more polished sound with a tad more positive gain in the mids to high's you might want to think about the Q1. Q5 (with the A5) + FA7's? All I can say is WOW! You still get the strong mid-bass levels but the mids and highs sparkle! I can understand why the Q5 is Fiio's flag ship DAC/Amp. It is costly but when compared to other brands of comparable quality you are $$$ ahead. With the Q1 you have to be tethered to your iPhone, with the Q5 I paired it with the BT and there was no discernible degradation in sound quality. This is a costly setup (to me) but I'll cry once but reap the rewards for some time. So my verdict is in. I don't follow data and benchmarks but try to purchase the best quality for funds invested. My ears confirm that matching the FA7's with a Q5 are not necessary for good sound quality and enjoyable listening (on an iPhone). These earbuds are great as a stand alone with an iPhone; however, if you have the resources and are looking at using larger headsets or just want to polish your tunes to the highest quality (IMHO), you might want to consider looking into the Q5 as a vehicle to take you there with the FA7's.
