  • Large-diaphragm Cardioid Microphone in Wooden Jeweler's Box with 20Hz-20kHz Frequency Range

Description

The Neumann TLM 103 large-diaphragm cardioid condenser mic boasts a capsule drawn from the U 87 and transformerless circuitry — not to mention classic Neumann sound! The TLM 103 is a great mic for any pro or project studio use and, due to its minimal self-noise, it's been used for classical recordings with a wide dynamic range, sampling (especially for very low amplitude sources), and Foley work. This mic is also robust enough for the live stage, as Jack White has employed the TLM 103 to mic amps in live situations. Cardioid pattern to limit bleed The cardioid TLM 103 utilizes a tried-and-true transformerless circuit found in high-end Neumann microphones to achieve its otherwise unattainable low self-noise and the highest sound pressure level transmission possible. By focusing on this pattern — used in most recording situations — the attenuation of unwanted rear sound has been optimized. Off- axis sounds are rendered

  • A real workhorse.
First, despite what it says in the description, this is not a "dynamic" mic. It is a condenser mic. I just bought my second one, so now I have a pair for drum overheads or vibraphone, anything where you want to capture a stereo image. This mic sounds excellent on everything I have tried it on, even a guitar amp where I would generally use a dynamic like an SM-57. I think it's a great bang for the buck and I recommend it highly. ... show more

  • Great idustry standard microphone!
I got this as many people use it as an industry standard. I'm happy with the warmer sound it gives me on my guitar tracks. It's great for vocals as well and look forward to using this microphone for a long while! Lance Allen Fingerstyle guitarist

  • This is a top of the line microphone
I use it for voice overs and recording acoustic (Martin) guitars. This microphone has a good reputation and it is well earned. Is it worth more than the MXL? Maybe. I'm not professional enough to tell the difference. But this is a warm mic that has good dynamic range. I really like it.

  • Not “New”
Box looks opened already. I had already decided I wanted a different mic but couldn’t cancel my order. Scary paying this much for a “new” mic and corners of box are beat up and flaps look opened on it already.

  • Outstanding!
Take the Neumann TLM-103, throw in a quiet room and minimal processing and you get an absolutely pure and accurate sound. I thought about this purchase for a long time but the first time I used this mic I wished I had made the purchase a long time ago. Worth the hype and the price.

  • Detailed review by singer
I hear this to be crystal clear, but I wish the lows were a tad bit warmer otherwise as good as 10-15k mics
