My 5 yr old daughter is obsessed with helping me in the kitchen. These are perfect for her. She is able to cut her own fruits and veggies safely and assist in her meals. The handles fit perfectly for little hands and while they are sturdy enough to cut even carrots they aren't the least bit sharp enough to slice her skin. My nearly 5 year old wants to be a part of the action when his older sisters help with dinner. This knife set is the PERFECT way to ease him into doing something actually helpful in the kitchen without letting him get into real knives. These are actually sharp enough to chop veggies and even fruit like strawberries relatively easily, while still being more akin to plastic cutlery in safety (they are stronger than disposable cutlery but still far less likely to cut your skin than a regular knife). That being said, it IS possible to get injured so these should still be used with adult supervision. But they are safe enough that I don't mind encouraging him to help out and he couldn't be happier about that! If you've got a little one at home that might enjoy this, get it! ... show more
