Festool Kapex KSC 60 — first impressions Seems amazing so far. I got it earlier this week and, even though it was meant to stay in the shop, I couldn't help myself and took it to a job site for a couple of days. Perfectly calibrated out of the box, performed exactly as expected. I'm always amazed by a new Festool tool. Beforehand you think about how much better it could really be — we're all used to the brands we grew up on here in the US. My Milwaukee cordless miter saw and table saw, for example—I use them every day and think they're perfectly sufficient—until they're not. Then you use something from Festool, and it clicks. It's like thinking your Ford or Chevy is "plenty good" or even the top of the mountain, then getting in a Mercedes or BMW and going, "Oh now I understand." Without the in-person experience, it's easy to form and believe your own assumptions. These tools come out of the box calibrated — no setup ritual required. I never bothered checking this saw because it was already perfect, same as my track saw, which I've used for almost a year without ever having to calibrate it. That's a stark contrast to Milwaukee or DeWalt, where you're expected to spend time dialing the thing in before it's trustworthy — like buying a new car and finding out the wheels were never balanced or aligned. That just doesn't happen with Festool. And because they don't drift out of calibration every few days either, the trust holds. Building becomes more enjoyable. You're not worried about whether your equipment is dialed in enough to give your clients a decent result — you're just focused on the work itself. It's a real investment, but I'm sold. Planning to sell off my old stuff and keep upgrading as I can.

Dead accurate but with design flaws
Pros- -Lightweight compared to most cordless offerings. -Dead accurate out of the box and accuracy far outweighs the following list of cons. Cons- -The trigger lock is a joke but can easily be pried out with a small flathead without any damage so it can be put right back for any reason. -The handle stands way too straight up for the vertical style. It's an uncommon style but I do have it on the Bosch cordless 8 1/2" and old Hitachi 8 1/2" and neither feel anywhere near as unnatural to reach for. I'll be adding bumpers in some choice areas so it can't fully spring back up and rests more in line with where I would naturally reach for it. -The angle finder isn't as great as I thought. For some reason I assumed it had a sort of lock into the clearance plate for confidence in positioning while adjusting. It doesn't, and it also doesn't lock into the back of the saw storage very well. Already fell out in light transport and will likely be shelfed. -Overpriced and borderline proprietary blades are going to be a pain point. I may look into a 5/8" arbor adapter for more readily available 8 1/2" blade options. For the cost of a Festool blade you're unlikely to haphazardly cut whatever. For example I just did a composite deck with a railing system that required some cuts in aluminum. Composite eats blades and a wood blade isn't ideal for aluminum but a normal Diablo or CMT will easily cut both materials so if I need to replace a ~$50 blade for every deck then it's just the cost of business. $150 blade is a bit of a different story and I would likely hesitate. I understand it's a precision woodworking tool, but a proprietary blade shouldn't gatekeep a general carpenter interested in accuracy from using it as their primary all-around saw. Overall, the accuracy and lightweight will overshadow any gripes with it. It is clearly a very refined tool and the quality and feel speak for themselves.

Portable and powerful
The saw itself is exactly what I was looking for and is plenty powerful. The only issue I haves is one of the batteries won’t fast charge and I have to use another charger I use for my track saw. That is the only issue I have. I would recommend it as it is very portable.

Excellent Saw!!!
Very smooth, accurate cuts and plenty of power, went through a Douglas Fir 2X12 without hesitation. Wish it had a 10” blade, but otherwise, a truly remarkable saw for anyone wanting a Miter saw that produces finish quality cuts. As long as you don’t mind an 8.5” blade, this is probably the best one on the market.
