  • Excellent for breaking down large sheet goods
This is essential if you are going to break down sheet goods on the Festool Track Saw. I can accurately cut a 2cm strip off of a 8' or 240cm sheet of plywood with very good accuracy. Of course this must be used in conjunction with the Festool Parallel Guides and neither component is cheap, but if you are going this route because trying to guide a large sheet of plywood through a small table saw didn't produce "square" results, this system works. I can't say enough about Festool. Their systems are expensive, but the tools deliver consistent, accurate results. The package arrived by freight and although the container was banged up it arrived in one piece with no damage. ... show more

  • Festool quality, beautifully packaged
This is essential for breaking down 4x8 sheets of ply or other materials. The packaging was extremely good, I was worried about shipment but it arrived in a thick cardboard sarcophagus lined with 2x3 stock so no twisting or bending could occur. The box is great for storage as well.

  • Track is great, but very costly IMO
Track is great, but very costly IMO. I was not about to be joining track sections. Glad this is ready when I am.

  • Too expensive
Festool, per everyone else has great quality products which I own none.. for the simple fact their products cost far to much! Like this piece of track which is a couple hundred dollars more than anybody else’s.

  • Shipped OK. Close... But OK.
I haven't used the long guide rail yet, but it seems to have arrived fine. I'm posting this review only because of the stink that's been raised concerning the shipping. Since the length (108") is oversize, it doesn't ship UPS, but is shipped by an independent carrier instead. It comes in a nice wood/masonite box that would seem to be plenty strong. But the masonite had almost entirely pulled through the staples on one side of the box, leaving just the staples at the end holding that side on. About half the staples on the other side had pulled through. It would have taken very little more to bust the box open, dropping the rail out. Nevertheless, the guide rail inside the box was perfectly straight and ding-free. It was a close call, but in my case, at least, the gamble paid off. Now about the rail. Although I haven't had time to use it yet, I've seen them in action and I'm very confident that it'll allow perfectly (i.e., PERFECTLY) straight and precise cuts on the long dimension of a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Bravo Festool! Great design and implementation. ... show more

  • Expensive but Invaluable
This track is long enough to rip an eight foot piece of wood. What makes it invaluable to me is that I can skip the jointer, and rip a crooked board very quickly. This long track is quite expensive, but in this application it saves a great deal of time when processing wood from a saw mill.

  • Very expensive, but it is a quality product.
Way too expensive, but it is accurate and very handy for some applications.

  • works beautifully, but $300?
I love my track saw, and use it every day (trim carpenter). I mostly use the 55" rail, but on occasion this long one is necessary. It is great, but $300 is sort of ludicrous for a long piece of extruded aluminum. The TS can almost eliminate the need for a table saw on most jobsites, but I'll still choose my Powermatic when in the shop. ... show more
