  • It really is worth the money but with very limited use
updated: 06/22/2018 I've lived with this for a few months and need to update my review. I'll still give this 5 stars but for very limited use. I do think this is the very best tool for sheet goods and for precise long rips. If you do these types of cuts daily, this is the best. Ignore my silly remark about it being a hand-held table saw, I fell for the festool propaganda. The truth is, I've not used again after my floor repairs and cutting 15 sheets of ply. I ended up buying a Dewalt jobsite table saw for medium to small crosscuts and rips. The festool is just too big a pain to mess with for anything outside a sheet of ply or cutting a hole in the middle of my living room. This is very expensive but it really is worth the money, just make sure you get the track. I got the 75" and 55" track. Without the track, it's an ridiculously expensive circular saw. With the track, it's like a hand-held table saw. This is the easiest way to make clean, precise cuts. I used this to replace damaged engineered wood flooring. I could have just used a simple circular saw and a homemade guide but it would have been a chore. With the Festool, I laid down the track, put it where it needed to be, set the saw down and made the cut. Simple and precise. I've since used it to break down multiple plywood sheets and it can't be beat. Breaking down plywood on a table saw sucks. These are crazy expensive but if you can afford it, you'll be happy. ... show more

  • Buy once ... cry once
A home woodworker here. I hate spending tons of money on a tool I don't use all the time. But WOW... this tool is amazing. It easily helped me cut these chunkly timbers into a beautiful table top. I did use an off market track (55 x 2) to get me where I need to be. I see a Domino in my future! Vac assembly easily attached to my shop vac with exiting equipment I had. Definitly a plus. ... show more

  • It isn't hype, this track saw is amazing and worth every penny!
It might be expensive but it was worth every penny! Just an awesome piece of engineering, smooth, easy, accurate, just a lot of fun to use, I know the Makita is half the price and is a very good track saw but if you have the money this is just a better tool. Not a fan boy and I usually don't buy Festool but I gotta say this, their miter saw, sanders, and dust collection systems are just another level of engineering. ... show more

This is my first... and last track saw. It is great. I was cutting 2 inch by by 9 foot rough cut douglas fir and the finish cut is truly glue ready. Sighting down the cut showed perfectly straight results. Hooked up to my dust collection system resulted in almost no sawdust in my shop. I was surpised by the light weight and ease of operation. A little little pricey but as I stated up top this will be my last saw. Well worth the price. ... show more

  • Huge Premium for Mediocre Design
I have had this saw, the vacuum and some of the tracks for a few years. I am quite disappointed. Although the concept is a good one, the flaws are numerous. First the saw jams in the cut position which seems dangerous. Also the hoses and attachments either break or don't remain connected. The Tracks have a glue strip for a guide - the glue isn't very good so the guides move around or end up hanging loose. I suppose if you are going to leave this saw in a shop and baby it you may not have problems but its lack of durability for job site work make it a very poor value for the huge premium. ... show more

  • Very accurate, safer than a tablesaw
Yes, expensive. Not as robust as I would expect for the price, so not a hard-use pro saw. But, very accurate and works well for our home shop. My wife uses it for her woodworking. It is much safer than a table saw and can do many of the functions of a table saw.

  • Awesome tool- Take time to familiarize yourself with it
I use primarily for panel cutting, but see it serving a much larger role in the shop. I first saw one of these used by the carpenter at a boat builder I worked at as project manager. Since boats don't have traditional squared up lines for wheelhouse trim and consoles, he used this for making all kinds of irregular angles on sheet goods and ripping lumber at add odd angles. I was sold and decided to splurge on one. No regrets. Smooth cuts, no tear out, ability to "shave off" narrow pieces to fit joints and maintain a perfect edge, safe and easy to use, well made, high quality...list goes on as to what I like. However, having never owned a track saw previously, it took some time and practice to feel comfortable with using. Festool adds a lot of functionality in their engineering (some might be over engineered in fact) so clearly need to work with it to see what the capabilities are. I like not having to manhandle 3/4 inch plywood on my contractor table saw, and for that alone it's worth it. Arguably if that's all I needed I could have stuck with the worm drive and straight edge. I see a lot of other possibilities however that this thing will allow me to do. It's expensive, and you still need to buy the tracks so it's not a cheap investment. As a tool nut though, I'm happy I got it! ... show more

  • Best tool I’ve bought in 2019
This is by far the best portable cutting tool I own. Using it with the cutting track makes cuts perfect. Very sharp precise work. Ive always read about the track saw but never used one. My brother who has less experience even notice the quality and ease of use. If you don’t have access to a table saw on remote locations. This is what you need. Totally worth the money. ... show more
