  • This is a beast
This thing is a beast and I love it!!! Still learning how to use it but love what it does so far!

  • Beautiful
Heavy, enough weight so that it won't move out of hand, other routers I have Dewalt. Bosch moves in the first second, easy to go out of control with high spinning bit, This Festool beauty combined with guide rail is joy to use.

  • Tool built for heavy duty work.
Like all Festool, extremely well designed and engineered. All the controls add a level of precision that is very desirable. The price is high, but the quality and performance - and hopefully the endurance- are worth it.

  • Great product
I like the grip, the lock and unlock is in the handle and so is the on/off button. So it makes it very easy to control it. Does not have any vibration. It is however a pretty large router

  • I love Festool tools
like all Festool tools this router is well thought out and a joy to use. Ive been using a 2 inch bit to flatten a slab and the router handles it with ease. the controls are clearly marked and easy to reach when the tool is on.

It’s a Festool. Enough said.

  • Beast mode
I’m a novice router user and this is my first router. I decided to buy this particular router because I wanted Festool quality, craftsmanship, engineering and performance. The 3 year warranty is a comfort for such an expensive unit. I’ve started this journey by standardizing on 1/2 shank (for now), which narrowed the field considerably. I’m also generally of the opinion that I’d rather overcommit to a higher quality unit than buy something less performant and end up replacing it. $1100 is a lot of cabbage for a router. The bits can be equally expensive. I chose to use Whiteside. I’ve been impressed with my other Festool tools and this didn’t disappoint. My initial project was routing pull out shelf handles on a new garage cabinetry project. Not particularly difficult and a good way to get to know the machine. Setup was straightforward and options for stop depth etc all great. Heavy but in a good way. My initial reaction was that this is an impressive machine. Chews through any wood material in short order. Plunge cuts were easy to make and it was relatively simple to use. You really need dust extraction with this. It’s not really optional. I do not have a formal integrated dust collection system e.g. Festool. Since I was a bit lax I just winged it without any dust collection. Aside from blowing particulate dust everywhere, which is obviously expected, this thing produces a ton of sawdust. The main challenge using the unit is that it’s impossible to see what you’re doing without getting your face right up near the unit. There’s not a lot of space in the clear plastic shroud area around the bit so you really have to focus on a small opening to see what you’re routing. I’m not sure how you’d get a better view, but that’s my main gripe. Dust extraction would help keep that area clearer, visibility-wise, but the viewable opening is still a very narrow window when you’re plunge routing. You also need a proper work area setup. Using simple wood jigs is a bit tricky because this thing is powerful enough to blow through the sides of your jigs is you’re not paying attention or can’t see what you’re routing… I managed to make my drawers just fine. A few mistakes due to above but it didn’t deter me - this wasn’t a finish cabinetry project. As I continue to use this for other projects I’ll need to up my skill level a bit, and buy an integrated dust collection (Festool). The important message here is to carefully consider your table setup and extraction methods as part of the system. It makes a huge difference. I like the weight, ergonomics and engineering of this piece. Well thought out. It is an absolute beast in terms of power. Adjustability is great. I’m still learning my way around this tool, and I’m sure that it will become a key component of my amateur wood shop. 9.5/10 ... show more
