I make guitars from scratch, often from wood that I milled from logs. I recently decided to give electric guitars a try, having only made acoustic ones in the past. I ordered this kit to learn more about how to carve out the body for placement of the electronics and to get a set of electronics. I noticed the great reviews and that nice hardwoods were used as opposed to other kits which use poplar, basswood and similar woods. When I opened it I was astounded! Beautiful, high dollar woods crafted to perfection. Every portion of the kit was first class. Sure, there are more expensive tuners, string sets, etc., but no components were less than good quality and a good number were top quality. It was easy to put together and sounds great. My only issues were having to make more space for the amp plug-in and two small missing hardware parts (one screw and one spring). I hear that customer support is great, so this kit exceeds all of my expectations. I quickly ordered two more of these kits because of the incredible value and I am really not sure what I am going to do with them.

This was great value for the money! The body comes with a light finish/primer on it, and the neck is finished with a light smooth poly or something similar. Looking at other kits from more known companies like StewMac, those look very similar, but double the price. I thought the Mahogany body would be at least 5lbs, but was pleasantly surprised at 3lbs 9oz. Not too shabby! If you are a parent purchasing this for your kiddo, and they are new to guitar, you will probably want to take it to a music store to get setup, otherwise this might be hard for them to play. I decided to take a chance on ordering one of these guitars after watching Jim Lill’s excellent YouTube video “Tested, Where Does The Tone Come From In An Electric Guitar?” His conclusions - essentially there is no ‘tone wood’, and 99% of the tone comes from the pickups, pickup height and electronics. He purchased a $100 guitar off Amazon, installed the same pickups that were in his $2000 Tom Anderson Tele, and does some pretty extreme comparisons which were very impressive. In the end, he is able to get unbelievably close between the two, including building a guitar out of a 2x4, and an ‘air guitar’ (as little wood as possible), to prove how close you can get. What you take away from that video, is what you are paying for in a guitar is the fit and finish - you are paying for an instrument maker to craft you an instrument that feels good, fits your hands, has the right balance, etc., and the rest (tone, sustain, etc.), comes from the electronics, and how YOU play the guitar. All that being said, I thought I’d put those theories to the test. In my (non-pro) music career, I’ve put together guitars with parts from Warmoth, All Parts, Stratosphere, etc., etc. The Fesley was 95% as nice as those guitars. I had it together in about 20 minutes, and with another few minutes of setting the action/string height and intonating, it was good to go. I replaced pick ups with Seymour Duncan's, and was blown away with similar conclusions from the YouTube video!

I love this guitar and customer service (Olivia specifically) is amazing!- my son received the guitar for his birthday and had his grandparents sign it, it was extremely sweet. But once he started assembling some weird things were appearing- the pickup appeared used / rusty and the screws broke immediately in the neck. Fesley made sure that my son could keep the body and instead of sending parts, sent him a new guitar. This guitar was certainly an anomaly - rather than questioning, they immediately accepted that it was a manufacturing error and worked to resolve the problem. Thank you Olivia thank you Fesley. All companies should be as honest, compassionate, and responsive as you have- especially Olivia!!! Looking forward to trying new builds in the future!

Was a great telecaster kit and has become my favorite guitar. Hardware was good enough and the plug and play connections made everything so easy to put together. I only swapped out the strings for regular slinkys. Slight grounding issue with a light buzz when not touching strings. Louder buzz compared to my beginner Epiphone Les Paul but nothing terrible that a noise gate wouldn’t eliminate. Had a lot of fun learning the ins-and-outs of making a guitar feel great without the worry of ruining anything and it holds tune better than any of my guitars. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Especially if I was just looking to have a different style guitar without breaking the bank.

Amazing kit! My 2nd build of a Strat style guitar and the 1st time to try this guitar kit, and wow, this body and neck are perfect and accurately made, even though I upgraded the pickups to EMG , this is my SAPL David Gilmoure guitar- and it plays and sounds so smooth! Looking forward to my next build for an Alex Lifeson SAPL guitar- this will be my go to kit.

What a great time I had putting this together. I've definitely caught the bug of wanting to build every other DIY kit I can get my hands on! Guitar was very easy to assemble and came in complete working condition. Would definitely recommend this brand to anyone!!

Kit looks good, however I did not get all the correct screws for the Humbucker rings, did not have an input jack plate, and the pre-drilled holes left a lot to be desired. Edit: The bridge mounting holes are too small and the inserts won't seat properly.
