I make guitars from scratch, often from wood that I milled from logs. I recently decided to give electric guitars a try, having only made acoustic ones in the past. I ordered this kit to learn more about how to carve out the body for placement of the electronics and to get a set of electronics. I noticed the great reviews and that nice hardwoods were used as opposed to other kits which use poplar, basswood and similar woods. When I opened it I was astounded! Beautiful, high dollar woods crafted to perfection. Every portion of the kit was first class. Sure, there are more expensive tuners, string sets, etc., but no components were less than good quality and a good number were top quality. It was easy to put together and sounds great. My only issues were having to make more space for the amp plug-in and two small missing hardware parts (one screw and one spring). I hear that customer support is great, so this kit exceeds all of my expectations. I quickly ordered two more of these kits because of the incredible value and I am really not sure what I am going to do with them.

Just buy it! I thoroughly enjoyed assembling and finishing this guitar. I bought it because I needed the educational experience and there is something to be said about creating your own guitar. Is it a high end Strat, no. Is it a guitar I would gig with, eh perhaps with some upgrades. But it has become my favorite guitar to play and it feels nice in the lap and the finishes are smooth and the guitar is very user friendly. Assembly was an absolute breeze! I can’t wait to build the tele next! So I built the telecaster version of this kit recently. I am pleased and displeased, yes it looks beautiful, I did change the pick guard from the white one to a black one. The build was much like the strat version and straightforward in all aspects. I did a Rosewood stain and a lot of prep and sanding was needed to prepare the body for stain. I then finished it with around 6-7 coats of gloss lacquer. The neck didn’t exactly fit as well as the strat version, slightly off and after a little tweaking it was better but not perfect, high e string was nearly off the fretboard. You will need to set this guitar up so don’t think it’s plug and play. The frets were covered in a muddy looking stain soI did a fret polish with my dremel tool and now they look decent. It doesn’t seem to play all that well, I will need to do a better setup maybe with a professional to get the pickups dialed in better. It looks great but could be a little better as far as the quality control is concerned.

Pros: It is a beautiful guitar. Thick top slab of maple. I can’t find any other manufacturers who do this as full wood. I love it! The fret work is top notch. Really incredible for the price. Cons: the screw wholes for the neck on mine are off center. It probably doesn’t matter, but I’m planning to dowel them and re-drill. I think they should have caught this in QA. Overall- just buy it! You’re not going to find a better kit for the price.

I’ve been building and customizing guitars since the early '90s, and this kit was an absolute blast to put together. My wife surprised me with it for my birthday, knowing I wanted a Les Paul-style guitar that I could customize. She chose the Fesley DIY LP Style Electric Guitar Kit with a mahogany body/neck and a flamed maple veneer top—great choice! The kit included everything I needed, and assembly was smooth. After building it, I gave it a matte black finish with a chrome splatter, replicating a guitar I used to play on stage back in the '80s. Once set up and fine-tuned, it plays great—the neck is fast and comfortable, and the hardware and electronics are solid for this price. Honestly, it holds up surprisingly well next to my Epiphone Les Paul Custom. Great project, great price, and awesome customer service from Fesley. Highly recommended for beginners and experienced builders alike!

Was a great telecaster kit and has become my favorite guitar. Hardware was good enough and the plug and play connections made everything so easy to put together. I only swapped out the strings for regular slinkys. Slight grounding issue with a light buzz when not touching strings. Louder buzz compared to my beginner Epiphone Les Paul but nothing terrible that a noise gate wouldn’t eliminate. Had a lot of fun learning the ins-and-outs of making a guitar feel great without the worry of ruining anything and it holds tune better than any of my guitars. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Especially if I was just looking to have a different style guitar without breaking the bank.

Good kit. There is a coating Fesley sprayed on it. Came with super jumbo frets that needed spot leveling and some fret sprout. Plastic nut. Pick ups are 4.7k but sounded good enough. I had to finish drilling the depth of the pre drilled holes. All holes lined up perfectly. Tuning heads stay in tune. This is a great guitar to learn how to set up a guitar and do mods. The strat has a terrible spring rattle so I stuffed t-shirt material inside each spring to reduce the noise. I like this Fesley strat.

Kit looks good, however I did not get all the correct screws for the Humbucker rings, did not have an input jack plate, and the pre-drilled holes left a lot to be desired. Edit: The bridge mounting holes are too small and the inserts won't seat properly.

This LP kit turned out very nicely! I stained it and it's beautiful and plays very nicely. My only criticism is the bridge buzzed no matter what, so I found a cheap replacement with roller saddles that fixed that issue. Overall, I'm very happy with it and it's one of my favorite kits I've put together. I did get a different pick guard just for color preference.
