After looking around at multiple guitar stores for a beginner acoustic bass I settled on the Fender CB-60SCE. None of the local music stores had it in stock and I was leery of ordering a string instrument online and having it shipped only to have it arrive and be beyond my beginner to setup properly. Having ordered it, I must say that I am happy how it was shipped, and it even came ready to play! A simple tune and I was strumming away. Sounds great active pick up is nice with built-in tuner. Low fret buzz and actually came set up pretty well. Compared to comparably priced acoustic bases. This is much higher quality.

    • Beautiful, full sound
Ready to play out of the box. Comes packaged very well. It's a treat just unpacking it. All you have to do is tune it with the built-in tuner and it's ready to play.it has a thick and vibrant sound. The first song I played was the Seinfeld Theme song, sounds awesome!

    • Amazing instrument
I was used to play with a short neck Ibanez electric bass and I was not sure if I would get used with an acoustic bass guitar, but since I bought it I haven’t touched my electric bass. Spud is really good and I can easily bring it to my friends house to play, without carrying extra stuff. Since it’s electric, I can also plug it and play with an amp for a boos in the sound. ... show more

    • Great sound, fast action
I have a cheap Dean acoustic I use for a folksy band occasionally I play in, but never really liked the bass. This Fender blows it away! It has a great sound, the action is low and fast enough that it almost plays like an electric, and the bass/treble/volume/tuner control is a plus. The tuning pegs are a bit on the cheaper side, but it’s an inexpensive bass that plays and sounds like a much more expensive one. A great value for the money, in my opinion...would definitely recommend, ... show more

    • This Bass has a major problem
As another buyer pointed out, the E string will not stay in tune. This is a real problem. Tune it and play for 2 minutes and it's already flat. The action is also somewhat harsh and there are areas on the fret board where the strings buzz. The volume when played acoustically is decent for practicing but probably not adequate for acoustic jams with more than one other instrument and definitely not good for any kind of performance. Another major annoyance is the stupid red "Free Fender Lessons" stick-on (which btw the lessons are not free). It's glued to the pick guard which is covered by a thin plastic sheet. When you try to remove it, the cheap glued on pick guard can be pulled up a bit and form a bubble under the pick guard. But as I mentioned, the biggest issue is with the E string tuning. I think the tuning hardware is not strong enough to handle the greater tension of the E string. Sad that a company like Fender refuses to own up to this design flaw as this bass has been on the market for at least a couple of years. I’m very disappointed with Fender. I've bought several older Fender guitars (back when they were of better quality) and I've always loved their instruments – but now I'm not sure I'd buy another Fender. I would not recommend this acoustic bass given the tuning issue. Hopefully the return process with Amazon won't be a hassle. ... show more
