If you are like me, 67 yrs old, not as strong as I was 5 years ago- Son's moved far away , wife has a shoulder replacement and you are not on speaking terms with you neighbor THIS IS FOR YOU. I should of had these years ago when I was doing a lot more installing, but I remodeled my kitchen and no one was around- These things will extend from 4ft to 9ft, you have to take incremental steps but I was able to install about 8 full size wall cabinets on a Saturday, and unlike before when I tried using a configuration of clamps and odd pieces of 2 x 4's and couldn't stop once I started- you can stop, take a break, have lunch, and when your ready start right back up- if your putting cabinets and you want them to look great- this helps a lot- you weren't cheap on your cabinets these will save you time, muscle aches and the job will look good- buy them since I wrote the first review , I installed a suspended ceiling and when it came time for leveling these were priceless at helping with a precision level of the ceiling. I gave these 3rd hand support rods 1 star because they both arrived broken. Wait- does that mean I'm penalizing the product for bad shipping or a bad seller... NO. The manner in which both rods were broken means they were crap to begin with. The bottom of the pole has a screw-adjustable ball joint to attach a foot pad to. Problem is, the screw is set into a cheap plastic collar inserted into the tube, and only kept from sliding in by a thin plastic lip. When I opened my box, I wondered what these black plastic fragments were that fell out. They were the remains of the collar lips because the adjustment screws had been pushed up inside the rods. The 3rd hands are now useless because they have no bottom feet. Worst thing is, I bought them early to get ready for a job. Now that I've gotten started, it's to late to return them. They're garbage, don't by them. ... show more

I've been a Contractor 39 years, I know what a good tool is. I LOVE this setup, its quick compacts nicely I did get the carry storage bag also and the added larger feet What comes stock is also very good. I love the design where there is a strong magnet on the top of the pole where you put your plastic. As you hold it at an angle you use their supplied loose washer a and at times you here a snap. Washers sets in the slight recessed are and self aligns so you get a good tight fit/hold. The only gripe I had was its a tad hard to depress the adjacent balls to raise ot lower the poles for roughing in your height. BUT that also means they have strong springs and will last a long time. I also love when you lower or raise the heights they have a line on side of the pole so you can bypass a ball snap spot which makes it very fast to slide the poles to set up and tear down, They are VERY strong in holding power when you pump the handle, meaning a strong fit that bumped wont fall over As a matter of fact to much pump and you'll hear the drywall grown lol My guys love that one person can easily set this up. I also like the fact its keep plastic tight at the ceiling yet you can still have a doorway on one side pulling aside the plastic and then tucking it back behind the pole to seal Great Jobs Great Tool!! and a flat metal waser that after you put your plastic on the pole end then its actually a snap noise when the metal washer conmnects to the top of the pole the palstic to the pole The only thing thats a little tough is squezing the little balls in to lower or raise the teloscope part Godd news the balls have good springs. lol ... show more

I ordered two sets of two, one the box was pretty much destroyed, the other was falling out of the box but at least it appeared all the parts were there - I think. No documentation was included, just the poles and parts in the box. There was no parts list of what I should have had. The box was actually a box in a box, the inner box was VERY thin cheap Chinese cardboard with glossy print showing the system with a bunch of accessories, the outer box which was a sleeve fit also appeared to be some sort of Chinese cardboard. You know the type, thin, soft, no structure. The inner box had no tape on the ends, the outer box was stapled but no tape. It's not possible for these boxes, each containing two heavy steel poles, to ship intact. If I could, I would give Negative stars for product packaging and documentation. Of course, one of the boxes was missing a couple of the plastic feet as it came apart in shipping. Fortunately I was able to make due even with parts missing. The poles come with special feet for plastic walls, these feet have a strong magnet in the middle and come with a steel disk to hold the sheet plastic on the end of the pole when you put it up. Unfortunately, the magnets are very poorly glued and one popped out on first use. These feet fit over the ball end of the pole, but unlike the standard feet which snap on, these just sit there. Another plastic part snaps onto the pole and slides up inside the foot to hold it steady - but it doesn't clip in or anything, it sits there rather loosely so of course the whole foot just falls off if bumped. Not good design there! Using them was a little but of a mystery (due to the lack of documentation,) you have to unscrew the bottom knob a bit in order to allow clearance for the plastic foot to fully seat. On the other lever end, you squeeze a few times - it advances quite slowly and it's a two handed operation to release as you have to depress another little tab lever (not very ergonomic.) All in all, these are okay, but with all the plastic parts which may or may not last, fall off, etc., you will probably go broke ordering replacements. I'll contact customer service regarding the missing parts and update the review depending on how that goes... ... show more
