nice effects pedal for this price range

Has some decent presets but is easy to tweak for the exact sound you want. Some presets are just silly but serve more as a demonstrator than anything you'll actually ever use. Tuner seems to disagree with my handheld one, and I plugged into a lead guitar effects box to compare. Didn't agree with that either but was close enough. The pedal throw is smooth and accurate, I mostly use it for volume and it offers fine tuning control. I wish it had built in drum tracks, but the looper is really nice (just wish I could loop over drums....) I also wish it came with an AC power unit. Guess that's to keep the cost down but really- it's just a hidden cost since you aren't going to rely on AA batteries for any serious playing. Overall it's a solid contender for this price range. If I were a professional musician I would probably be less concerned about price and get something more advanced, but for the hobbyist this is a good value. (I get a kick out of playing Slayer using the New Gospel setting....ah the irony)

Well...

I have always loved Boss products, but this one? First off, it does have some cool patches built in. However, a lot of them are not real useful playing live or recording. Sounds can be edited, but not as easily as other pedals IMO. The display is too small and black characters that are difficult to see on stage. It goes through batteries much quicker than my Boss ME-20B. I don't like any more cords than I already have, so I've been using rechargeable batteries for years with great success. Also, I did not see a low battery warning. You're playing, then you're not. And they should have used banks for the patches like other pedals do ( 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc.). You have to scroll through them all one at a time. Even if you line your most common patches up in a row, you'll probably still have to cross over 1 or 2 patches that you might not want to hear getting from patch 3 to patch 8 or ??? I use this pedal occasionally and it's kinda cool. But when I gig or rehearse, I'm taking my ME-20B. Follow up. It does have a low battery warning, but it does not take long from low battery warning to pedal shuts off.

Missing equipment/options

this is my initial impression and will follow up after I actually use it, but when I unpacked and inspected I found that it does not come with a power supply or a xlr output. When you spend a couple hundred on electronics it should come with a way to plug it in. That being said it did come with batteries, and does have an input for power. I will now have to buy a DI box so that I can plug into our sound system which was not an issue since the board I had been using had an XLR out built in.

Problems when it arrived.

Usually love Boss products, have used many over the years. Headphone jack on the unit did not work properly and since I wanted to use it as a practice tool that was an issue. The main thing though was the pitch effects, esp octave divider, did not seem to stay in tune as the note decayed. There was a software update since then, may be corrected? Went for the Zoom B3N instead, also not perfect, but much sturdier construction and includes a power supply and drum tracks for practice.

What's most important to know?

simple, uncomplicated multi-effects for bass. Minus one star for not having and on/off switch (inserting the instument cable turns the unit on, removing the cable turns it off. yeah, really, not enough facepalms for that) or including the power supply with the purchase. This thing eats batteries so you will need to buy the power supply. It sounds better for bass than my gt-100 does. Seems to be built fairly well and is small enough to transport very easily.

Great value multi effects processor.

Nice effects pedal that is easy to use. Great value for the money. Pedal is a little small and doesn’t seem as well built as some other pedals I have, but for the money this board is great. Easy to use right out of the box.

Great bass tones. Build them from the ground up.

Gets the job done

Very easy to use but not mind blowing. I already own the boss me-20b which has a very professional sound. It sounds as good or even better than the GT-1b. I will keep this unit just for the looping. But my ME-20b still king.
