  • Imperfect perfection
After playing with a Korg AX1B for nearly 20 years, I needed to replace it. Asking a lot of questions and reading reviews, I bought one of these as a replacement. If I was going to spend more, I would have jumped into one of the Line 6 Helix models, but at nearly 10x the price this is a much more budget friendly option. Overall I am impressed by the pedal. It is intuitive to work out of the box, and has several very playable patches that don't need any tweaks. I'm dinging it 1 star because it doesn't come with the power supply. ... show more

  • Awesome pedal
Couldn't ask for a better all around pedal. You have to sit down and devote time to programming it if you don't like the presets. But once you get it tuned in it rocks. And of course if you're fine with the presets which are definitely sweet as well. It's basically a plug in and rock out device. I wish I had more thumbs so I could give that thing four thumbs up. ... show more

  • nice effects pedal for this price range
Has some decent presets but is easy to tweak for the exact sound you want. Some presets are just silly but serve more as a demonstrator than anything you'll actually ever use. Tuner seems to disagree with my handheld one, and I plugged into a lead guitar effects box to compare. Didn't agree with that either but was close enough. The pedal throw is smooth and accurate, I mostly use it for volume and it offers fine tuning control. I wish it had built in drum tracks, but the looper is really nice (just wish I could loop over drums....) I also wish it came with an AC power unit. Guess that's to keep the cost down but really- it's just a hidden cost since you aren't going to rely on AA batteries for any serious playing. Overall it's a solid contender for this price range. If I were a professional musician I would probably be less concerned about price and get something more advanced, but for the hobbyist this is a good value. (I get a kick out of playing Slayer using the New Gospel setting....ah the irony) ... show more

  • Love this pedal
I have read so many reviews that there were a few good and some bad still. In this review I am going to say a lot of good stuff about the quality and the sturdiness of the pedal first off you can use you foot not hands to change tones the syth effects are awesome and most of all you can use this bass effects processor just about any where you want. I have yet to try it outside of my studio and practice place and take it to the stage. However I am happy to say it gave my amp the best punch it has ever had I have a bugera 1000 watt bdx12 amp that sounded good clean but with this effects processor I can chain more pedals to it in the future which I might don't know yet overall I give this pedal five stars ... show more

  • Where's the bypass...
Nice product, has some great built in presets but... it dominates your tone. You can't just use it for this effect or that effect... and there is no bypass switch to disengage it. I am already using a Tech 21 (dUg Pinnick) pedal as a preamp adding the BOSS drastically altered the tone of the Tech 21 no matter which side of the chain I put it on. A simple delay, chorus and wah pedal would be better in my situation I suppose... ... show more

  • Small footprint, huge amount of effects!
Easy to set virtual effects chain. Small footprint. It can be expanded with pedal and foot switch controls. Everything and more than you need for bass effects. The possibilities are endless. Well worth the price and quality BOSS effects.

  • Well...
I have always loved Boss products, but this one? First off, it does have some cool patches built in. However, a lot of them are not real useful playing live or recording. Sounds can be edited, but not as easily as other pedals IMO. The display is too small and black characters that are difficult to see on stage. It goes through batteries much quicker than my Boss ME-20B. I don't like any more cords than I already have, so I've been using rechargeable batteries for years with great success. Also, I did not see a low battery warning. You're playing, then you're not. And they should have used banks for the patches like other pedals do ( 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc.). You have to scroll through them all one at a time. Even if you line your most common patches up in a row, you'll probably still have to cross over 1 or 2 patches that you might not want to hear getting from patch 3 to patch 8 or ??? I use this pedal occasionally and it's kinda cool. But when I gig or rehearse, I'm taking my ME-20B. Follow up. It does have a low battery warning, but it does not take long from low battery warning to pedal shuts off. ... show more

  • The ultimate bass pedal
As with all multi effects units. Making changes on the fly has been a large drawback. Boss does a good job with this one. Keeping it simple. I wish they had used a regular USB connector. It's a printer USB connector for this unit to hook up with your computer. No DI jack. Tones are great. For the price, you cannot beat it for the various effects with this unit. Wish they offered a case with it. ... show more
